    Hi Everybody!

Last year I rode in the American Cancer Society race from Philly to May's Landing (only 20 miles), completely clueless on a borrowed bike. That day, I learned the phrase, "On your left" in different variations.

However, this year I want to do 60 miles- in July. How do I start training? Should I buy a cheapie bike from craigslist if I'm not that serious a cyclist? How little can I spend on a decent bike? Can I say, "on your right"?

    Help!

I'd get a decent quality bike used, maybe. 60 miles are enough that you'd feel it on a cheap bike that was cheap

My first road bike I got on eBay (local seller, however, so I could look at it). The bike was a few years old but was really a great bike. The guy got it to race but then decided he didn't like racing. Be sure to get one that fits you though! The Bianchi (my eBay bike) is a 60cm; the bike that fits me (my Orbea purchased later) is a 56cm. Maybe go to some bike shops to decide what size is best then scope out eBay and Craigslist?

Congrats on your decision to do 60 miles! I bet you'll have a great time.
