I'm definitely new to cycling. I joined a local women's triathlon club in January and have been training with a K2 mountain bike. Last night was Ladies' Night at the local bike shop and they made me a sweet deal on a 2007 Specialized Dolce!I go for the fitting on Monday and I'm so excited!
Hopefully it will be easier to keep up with the other girls now!
Any advice for a newbie?

Welcome to the board Mini, I only cycle, and am not a triathelete so have few suggestions.
But a new bike is sweet, and even sweeter for the 'deal' on it. And you get fitted on Monday? Enjoy

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
Hello, newbie here. Just going to purchase a hybrid - Trek 7100. I'm from Michigan(just got more snow), 50 yrs old, have a permanent knee injury(so got rid of my mountain bike for the hybrid). For my background, back in the 80s/early 90s I was a jogger and cyclist(had a Fuji Club). Then more school and work happened. Today, need to lose 40 lbs and want to get back into shape. So any training advice, nutrition, etc.... would be appreciated. Back to the bike purchase, anyone have any views on this Trek 7100? I have a hard packed trail about a mile from my house - which I like to ride - so thought a hybrid. Thanks everyone.
Welcome both new cyclists! The more women cyclists, the better.
Surg, I started cycling a year ago, went from 154 to 122 lbs - cycling 5 days and following South Beach Diet principles (basically, no added sugar foods, no white foods, no food high on the glycemic index, whole grains, veggies and proteins). Cycling keeps me in great shape, but that's not the main reason I do it. I do it because I love it and I'm compelled to do it - and it happens to be a fabulous fat burner. I also do some resistance training 2-3x per week for my upper body and core(free weights). It feels great. Oh, I also started with a hybrid - I ride a road bike now, mostly. I ride the hybrid when the roads get crappy in the winter. Have tons of fun, eat heathily and it will happen!

Welcome! Have fun, ride lots, and hang around on these forums. The women here are amazing with their knowledge and encouragement.

I agree, just ride, have fun and ride!!! Congrats on your Dolce. I am sure you will love it!
