This seems kind of silly, but I must post my ride today. It was only 1.2 miles.![]()
However, it was a significant event...
This afternoon it got up to about 35 degrees and DH said he was going to bike down to the bank and then to our cafe to have a late lunch, and would I care to meet him there and we could treat it like an early dinner. So I got a few clothes on to keep warm, and I biked down the hill and we had a nice meal in town. (bored yet?)
Ok so the reason this ride was great was that on the killer hill on the way home, I felt suddenly noticeably stronger, and it seems my legs were able to go faster up that hill than ever before. It seemed about 20% easier just out of the blue! I feel it was a milestone, and I don't quite understand it, especially since I haven't been too active through the winter. That hill has always been a gauge for me, since i can't really go anywhere without climbing it at the end. I remember the very first time I pedaled all the way up it last Spring- and thought I would either have a heart attack or throw up or something. It seriously scared me then.
-Maybe this leg strength increase is due to those two heavy duty snowshoe hikes in deep snow a few days ago? That's a definite possibility now that I think about it, because I remember I was sore all over for a couple days after that, and my legs got a huge workout from it. Hmmm....maybe I should get a StairMaster?
So that was my exciting ride today.Tomorrow I plan a 22 mile ride, and it will be interesting to see whether this spurt is still there. The forecast for tomorrow says 40 degrees and sunny! YAY, can't wait!!!
