    New Bike Signs?

Just a thought, and maybe this should be in the Crazy Driver section. But you know how there are those road signs that have a picture of a bike on it? Supposedly to advise cars of bikes on the roads? Why can't there be a different bike sign to advise cars when they are on a road that cyclists use a great deal? I wonder sometimes if the other signs are so familiar that no one pays any attention to them anymore. Can we make them three times larger? Pink? (That'll get attention!!!) Maybe ones that flash warning lights whenever they register a cyclist on the designated stretch of road?

Don't know how many times lately I've been driving down the road and realized my head hasn't been in the game. Scares me a lot. But come to think of it, that never happens when I'm on the bike...

How about a designated bike lane on those very roads? One that is maintained and gravel free?

I live in Bloomington Indiana during the week. There are "Share The Road" signs EVERYWHERE - rural and urban - as well as designated bike lanes - particularly near campus.

It works very well and I guess that it would be a model community ...except for the students who don't believe that traffic rules apply to them

I like that sign for sure. I don't know how many times on the strech of 2 lane road I have to ride on that people seem to pass me as close as they can get to me. Doesn't matter whether a car is coming the other way or not.
Mind you this is not a busy road, it's out in the country but the traffic that does come down it, drive like their foot is on fire and they are trying to stomp it out on the gas peddle, then I swear they pass me trying to see if they can get close enough to touch me with their mirror.

That is a perfect sign. I printed it out and will share it with my fellow bike club board members.
