On Wednesday I went on a ride. It wasn't a good ride. My bike was having shifting issues, and it made it very difficult to get in the 17 miles I did get in. I was really frustrated and tried to take it to the shop afterwards, but it was closed. That was okay, it was a chain shop and I didn't really care for the people there, it was just the closest shop I knew of.

So yesterday I was heading to a work happy hour and driving in some backwoods area near where I used to live and not far from where I live now. I got lost.

Thinking I'd find a store or something to ask how to get to the bar, I passed a big stone building with a sign out front that said 'The Bicycle Barn'. Which is the name of a shop I'd heard really good things about, but never been able to find. I knew that they sold Orbea, which is kinda hard to find, because about a gazillion of the people I ride with have Orbeas which is kinda funny because it's not a mainstream brand like Specialized or Trek.

Anyway, luck of all luck, I had my lovely little lady in the back of my car. And, since I was lost and had to ask directions anyway, I decided to drop her off to get fixed.

I walked in and was awed. It was a beautiful bike shop, with nice really high-end bikes everywhere. Right in the entryway was a Specialized Tarmac on sale for $5000 (dang that bike is purty looking).

Anyway, I dropped her off, and the guy took one look and said he knew what the issue was. I'm picking her up tomorrow, and super psyched that I found a good lbs to go to now.

Oh yeah, then he gave me directions to the bar and it turns out I had just missed it.

So it must have been destiny at work!
