IMAZ training log... The kid is BACK!!!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Ok ya'll. I am BUTT tired (as in big ol butt) because I did a 100 mi/ 6 mi ride /run brick today, so this might be short. Or maybe not. Who knows, I may get a second wind!!
Anyhoo, it has been one HELLUVA last couple of weeks. As you know I had female "issues" (the jurys still out on that) and the flu all at the same time. Lucky for me I was able to fight off the flu. But then I also threw in a trip to nor cal to watch Levi and the boys at the TOC. WHEEWW! It was a busy couple of weeks.
But before I tell you about my KILLER ride today I have to tell you about my trainer accident. Now a word of warning, DO NOT drink anything while reading this because you will ruin your keyboard when you spit the liquid out in laughter....
So I came home early because the flu was taking hold. I slept on the couch for about an hour and then decided in my wise (HA) type A mind that I should get on the trainer and spin for awhile. So I spin for about a half hour. I'm changing channels when all of the sudden I find myself flying backwards off the bike!! The next thing I know I'm on my butt on the floor. The remote went flying and I realize that my saddle is on the floor next to me. It seems the bolt sheered in half!!!!
Ok, now I know I have weight issues, but that is RIDICULOUS!!! I guess I was lucky that I didn't get hurt, but it was super funny at the same time. I mean I FELL OFF MY BIKE ON A TRAINER!!! OY!! Only me!!
Ok, so on to my ride today...
I ROCKED it!! The first 50 miles sucked and I didn't think I would make it. But after my stop at 50 miles I got my head back in the game and regrouped. I ended up doing the 100 in 6:27 for a 15.5 mph average!! I then ran 6 miles in 70 mins. YES!!! I am ready!! I'm SOO stoked!!
One thing I have to say that helped was that I FINALLY have my nutrition dialed in.
I found Infinit nutrition. They custom blend the electrolyte drink to your needs. My forumla is a bit salty tasting, but apparently it's what I need. It doesn't cause any stomach distress and I had ZERO cramping!! I'm also using a product called "sport legs" they are like a salt caplet, but I think they have stuff in it just for the cramping. My legs were fresh coming off the bike and I could have easy ridden another hour. So I think the combo really works. I ate half a cliff bar at 50 and then a few cliff bloks, but that was all I needed.
I HIGHLY recommend you look into infinit nutrition. The owner is really helpful if you have questions. This company rocks!!

Ok, well I'm fading so I'm not going to post my entire weeks training log.
But I think you got the most important part of it anyway!~
Thanks again to all of you who showed concern when I was awol. I really do appreciate the love and support I get from all of you. I wish I could hug you all in person!
    Ciao for now!
    Denise
P.S. Ms. Canuck, I FINALLY got your package in the mail last week so you should get it next week. It's a nice box of goodies that I think you will agree is worth the wait. Hopefully customs doesn't pilfer through it tho...

Dang, that seat flying off sounds *scary*! Thank goodness that happened on the trainer and NOT on the road... eh?

WOW! You are rocking it this year. 100 miles at a 15.5 mph average! And then a really solid 6 mile run... you are ON!

Thanks for the update and I hope all your female *issues* check out OK.

Wow - your training is going great (even though you're a bit klutzy! ). You will STOMP IMAZ!

I have a friend doing it as her first IM (mom of a kid in Em's class). She's a scary little person - she's just one solid muscle and more power on the flats than someone that small should have. She's super excited about it. Now I will have 2 folks to follow in the race coverage!

    poat long training day update...

OY!! The legs are barkin today!!!
And I'm absolutely RAVENOUS!! I swear my paperclips are looking appetizing!! I guess my morningstar farms vegee corndog and apple that I had lastnight didn't go very far. I'm trying not to use my long training days as an excuse to pig out because I want to lose some lb's before the race. But it's a delicate balance between losing some poundage and starving yourself..

But yeah, I think I need Tony to rub out my legs tonight. Thank god he's home. I would have had to call Sven (my imaginary boyfriend that I taunt Tony with)!!

Oh and pilates this afternoon should be fun.... sigh.. OUCH!!

    *awestruck*

So you're about a month from the big day, right?

Wahine - glad alcohol is still allowed in your training regime. I couldn't live without a little indulgence...

Well, I can't train right now because I'm fighting a virus. No Adreneline high so....

Alcohol probably isn't helping me fight the virus though. I think I better smarten up.

RM, you rock!!! I was thinking of you today on my first real run of the season. My "training" over the winter consisted of fooling around with my boyfriend, and taking his dog for walks a couple of times a week. It's made me fit for...well, nothing much! He's very encouraging about getting back to training, and is doing his own thing with tennis a couple of times a week. So this week was very quiet with work, and I got back in the pool for the first time in about 6 months, yes, 6 months. Then today I did my strength training routine, and ran/walked 2 miles. It's nothing compared to you, but I was thinking of you, and singing "Last Man Standing" along with JBJ on my Ipod as I ran.

I am happy for you and really looking forward to hearing how it goes over the next month and a half! Hope the trainer gets a grip on itself!

    love, Lise

You make-a me laugh!!!! I was sitting here imagining you falling off your trainer. You and your rides have the most amazing adventures (I guess now indoors as well as outdoors).

You are killing it in training, huh??? I'm sooooo proud of your century/run combo!!! I'm just smiling from ear to ear imagining you rocking that training day! Way to go, girl!!!!! Your speed in both bike and run is really fast!!!!

I heard about Infinit a month or two after my IM- wish I had known about it earlier. I would've much rather drank the whole way instead of eating all that crap on the bike that only made me nauseaous for the run. Glad it's working for you and that you found the right combination to keep you kickin' the whole day long!!!!!!

So proud of you, RM! You keep it up, girl- only a short month to go!!!!!!

Man- I can't wait to watch you on race day!!!!!
