He had someone on who said drivers drive closer to cyclists who wear a helmet, and drivers are less likely to drive near a woman. He tried it by putting a wig on and riding his bike in NYC. I didn't know he was a bike commuter.
The guest also said that laws requiring helmets for cyclists makes people less likely to ride, which is not as safe as riding without a helmet--because a sedentary lifestyle is hazardous to your health.
Mr. Stossel always has food for thought.
