FIVE WEEKS until the season starts!

Eek! The Triathlon Season is approaching!

Coach just gave me my training plan leading up to my first race in March... and the bricks are back, baby! Enduro base training is done, so now I've got bricks lined up every weekend, with interval training, swimming form drills, and speed drills during the week. Plus, I have to increase my core and upper body weight training. Then, one taper week prior to my season opener... and we're off and running!
Schedule looks like one race a month, six weeks off in late summer, then a fall that features 3 major tris (including the LA Tri) in a span of 7 weeks. Woo Hoo!!!

I'm 8 weeks from my first duathlon, and since I decided to switch my "A" Olympic race from May to July, this duathlon just became an "A" race for me. Since it apparently has a big long hill in it that some of my friends granny-geared last year (or so I've heard) hill training has started in for the bike. Last weekend was 25mi with rolling hills, this weekend a 1mile climb in two directions, then the big 3mile climb up the mountain the following weekend. (then repeat cycle after a rest week) The season really is starting!!

Good luck to you all and keep us updated!!

    Yup, here it comes

My season starts with an indoor sprint (pool swim, trainer bike and run outdoors) on Mar 11.

The rest of my schedule (tentative):

    April 7 - Duathlon
May 6 - Marathon Vancouver BC
June 9 - Blue Lake sprint tri
June 10 - Blue Lake Oly
June 23 - Pacific Crest HIM

Then a mini rest, while I do a few more weeks of building and, drum roll please...

Ironman Canada - August 26, 25th year anniversary.

Then if I feel like it I might fool around with some September races, maybe an open water swim, or maybe I'll veg out.

Wahine, is this the Penticton Ironman? You'll be not far away from Vernon when you're here for this....will you be making a visit and a little trip out of it? Or just wham bam thank you maam, kick some canadian butt and go home?

Maybe there will be a chance to connect?

Your schedule looks intense to me, and fabulous! Yoda, indeed!

LBTC - Yup, Penticton it is. I hope to come up for a little while. I want to visit with friends that come to the race, Tamara and Mike. So I will even be inthe Vernon area at some point I imagine. I'll make it to Kelowna at the very least.

I'm also hoping to come up for a long weekend sometime to ride the IMC course. It's a good confidence builder. I'm sure I'll do much better on the ride this time around because down here, I have no choice but to ride hills. I'm not sure when that'll be. I might try to make it part of my trip to Vancouver for the Marathon.

I'll let you know when I have definite plans.

KSH - There's a nice HIM program that was featured in the training section of last month and this month's Triathlete mag.

And just so there's no confusion, I may live in the States but I'm still very Canadian.

    Gak! 8 weeks for me...

I looked at the calendar today and all of the sudden it's only 8 weeks away to my opening du of the season, and a 5k the following week.

I have been slacking a little bit these first two months of 07. It actually got cold and started snowing, and I went into winter hibernation mode. Guess I better snap outta that quick!

I do not want to post my tentative schedule yet...for some weird reason, I feel like if I post it I will jinx myself!

Maybe it is just because I have been sick all week and I am in a panic.
