    A thread for the oldies!

Thinking of buying the above book, has anybody read it, if so, what was your opinion.

    Thanx.

I've read it. It's mostly common sense. If you read the stuff here, you might not learn a whole lot. But, it's a good book.

DP and I did read this book, and I thought it was good; it helped me develop a training program which seems to be working well. Then we got the Cyclist's Training Bible by Friel, and I'm learning even more. If you're going to buy one book, buy the Training Bible.

The Over 50 book is like the TB, except with more emphasis on giving yourself ample time to recover. It seems particularly aimed at Over-50 racers who spent their younger cycling careers using a bleed-from-the-ears-I'm-not-working-hard-enough-unless-I'm-on-the-verge-of-death mindset.

But both books are good. Happy reading, planning & riding!

    Get it... absolutely.
I'm 42 this year and my partner will turn 46 - I bought it for him a couple of years ago.

Loaded with stellar advice, hints and sage words.
We both still refer to it alot.

And if you like Friel, also invest in his "Cyclists Training Bible".

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
