Thought y'all wanted to not only hear the problems, but also the little successes.
So When did I start this? *leaves back thru forum* Mid-October.
I had about a private class a week in the beginning, a few less during December and Jan, but joined a group class since Jan. We also went to the pool to practice at least one more time each week.
Had another private lesson yesterday and he said it was looking good - my limitation was no longer technique (although that could be improved in infinite increments) - I can do 150 (3 lengths) freestyle now, that wears me out though. I can swim 1 km if I do breaststroke (all or part of) every second lane.
So now it's "don't forget the drills" and work on endurance. My other training is definitely helping recovery, HR goes down very quick after a few lanes, but it will be another while until I can do an entire 500 or 1000 freestyle..... and let's not talk about times.
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

Alpine, hang in there.
I've been retraining with Total Immersion and weaning myself off fins for the last two months and my progress seems frustratingly slow. I don't feel very "fishlike" but my coach keeps telling me I am improving. He keeps telling me the speed and endurance will come, so I'm using it as my mantra when it seems to take forever to reach the other side of the pool.
It will come... it will come.... IT WILL COME!![]()

Swimming is insidious. Progress sneaks up on you. YOu won't even notice it, until one day you're feeling infinitely more confident in the water and are able to go longer. You'll be all, 'When did that happen?'
It happens, you'll get there, you're doing great! Just look at what improvement you've made... you've gone from little technique to solid (although improvable) technique in 2-3 months. Imagine what you can do in another 2-3 months now that you've got the technique down!
