    Zebras!

I live on the central coast of California for those of you who don't know that.
Well yesterday my dh and I went on a big hike (Dr orders)(see health thread if interested) so we decided to drive up to Big sur. There is excellent hiking up there. We were driving back from our hike passing The Hearst Castle when I noticed a whole bunch of cars pulled over the side of the road. They were all pulled over cause there were about 6 adults zebra and 1 baby zebra. This is the 2nd time I have seen them. The first there was just a mom and a baby. It is strange to see. They hang with the cows on this giant property. It is cool!

I have a photo of that herd from 20 odd years ago, when my mother in law still lived near there. The day we saw them it was foggy and they materialized in front of us! how cool!

It's particularly neat at the right time of the year when you can look over the other side of the highway and see the giant elephant seals as well! (I grew up outside of Paso Robles, quite close to Hearst Castle.)

Oh yea the elephant seals are here in full force as well. It was packed with people so we didn't pull over (we have seen them every year for years). But there were lots of new born pups. So cute!!!!

    Very cool!
The only unusual wildlife I've seen recently was a half-frozen octopus on the bike path.
