I don't know of any rental places per se, but I'm sure that one of these two excellent bike stores should be able to point you in a helpful direction if you give them a call:

Hoping someone on the West Coast can help me out with this one. I'm going to see a friend in late July/early August in Portland, Ore., and we're going to do a triathlon together! Can't wait.
But I don't want the hassle of flying across the country with my bike for a short-distance race. Would rather just rent a bike -- preferably a tri bike (for fun) but I'd settle for a road bike.
Does anyone know of a shop that'd rent a GOOD bike to me for a week? I prefer something with mostly Ultegra components. I'm not picky on brand and not worried about the cost.

"Keep plugging along. The finish line is getting closer with every step. When you see it, you won't remember that you are hurting, that anything has gone wrong, or just how slow or fast you are.
You will just know that you are going to finish and that was what you set out to do."
