    Eric Moen appointment

well, guys, I went to see Eric Moen today. THe bad news?
I can't get a Marinoni. He looked at their specs and said they would be worse for me than my Bianchi is. He tweaked my seat (angle and setback), my handlebars and insisted that NEXT time i be all ready with my SPD's.
He was very knowledgeable. He said that my top tube was too long (duh)
and did try and maximize what can be done with the bike.
He suggested that i try a 48cm RUBY (of all things)
He said the geometry on them might be just the thing for me. He also told me that if there are any other bikes I want to look at, just send him the specs and he will check to see if they are for me.

so with all the $$ I saved by not buying a Marinoni, I bought a raincoat from TE

Sorry about the Marinoni. It is nice he was so thorough. Which raincoat did you buy?

the one you and Denise recommended.

(thanks so much for the help) it IS an expensive raincoat, but cheaper than the bike...

He didn't say to BUY a ruby, he said to try it or the Dolce because he liked the geometry... I'm hoping that the eros donna Bianchi has the same geometry.

It is an awesome jacket. I never thought I would like a jacket so much. Ride in it in good health.

Well...the good things are that you didn't get another bike that doesn't fit you perfectly, and you also know a lot more now about what you need than you did before. Your next bike will be all the more perfect for you! Nice to have a friendly, reliable, & knowledgeable guy willing to continue to advise you on other bikes.

Looks like the 48 Ruby and the 47 Eros Donna aren't all that different geometry wise. The Bianchi is a teensy bit longer, but its only a mm so it shouldn't make too much difference, but the seat tube angle is a little different too and I'm not sure what effect that will have. The biggest difference is in the fork rake so you may need to be careful about that pesky toe overlap on the Bianchi. Not that I'm biased or anything but the Ruby is a great bike.....

THanks, Eden. As you know, my big feet made that pesky overlap VERY apparent with your bike which I MUST return!

She also reps speedplay I believe.

Eric's a great guy, I took his bike fit course for PTs and had a fantastic time, learned a lot and I'm using it in my practice. I tried to get him to convince my DH that I needed a new bike. He tried, for a couple of hours on and off at the Providence Bridge Pedal, but DH didn't buy it

**sigh** I'm still riding my 2000 Allez pro. I still love it but it would be nice if....

Hurray! Glad you did this. I do have a geometry spreadsheet at home that compares the Dolce, Eros Donna, and Terry Isis--but can't send it till next week, since back in Paine Field hotel till then. But glad this is done! He's a really nice guy and knows a ton. His wife reps lots of different bike stuff--Fizik, too.
