... I managed to get about 34 miles in yesterady with little errands and going wider loops on them - knowing Howard had only done 40.1 made me want to get as close as possible. Yea, he's going to get by me (tho' sometimes I wonder if his wife's going to flatten his tires or something ) but NOT TODAY (unless he does a double metric century)
Today prob'ly not too many extra miles ... 12 degrees and 20 mph wind.
I'm grateful that while it's dark for my trip home, with enough lights I'm reasonab ly safe in this college town (sometimes I think more visible in the night than the day). People were *really* nice to me this morning but I was working awfully hard into the wind, uphill... and with my gears frozen number four so I had to push **hard** (thankfully the indoor ride training rides have been "overgearing up hills!")

I rode about 11 miles at last night. I really enjoy riding at night...there is a peacefulness to it...even though there is a lot of traffic around me. It was proabaly around 40 degrees out. I have lights ,and wear reflective bands on my ankles ,and wrist.

Night before last I went out for a completely gratuitous ten-miler and was afraid that once I got past the streetlights I wouldn't be able to see ice.
That moon was so bright I kept thinking there were headlights reflecting off the snow on the cornfields. I could have used it as a reading light.
