I'm getting ready to ride on the trainer, since it's pouring out. But, yesterday, my husband and I went on a mountain bike ride for about an hour. It was really fun, but we did a bad thing (sorry to all nature lovers here). We went on a trail that is fairly well known, but not used a lot. It connects Concord to the end of the Minuteman Bike Path. Anyway, part of the trail merges with a trail in the Great Meadows Wildlife sanctuary, a beautiful place for bird watching and walking, on the Concord River. At one point, I thought we had made a wrong turn, especially since we went over a bridge I didn't remember. The next thing we knew, we were riding in the sanctuary. it was really nice, gravel paths, with a few little roots and some water (the regular trail had quite a few challenging mud bogs that i did fine on, even clipped in). We noticed that the walkers were giving us dirty looks, even though we were going slow and enjoying the scenery. When we turned around, and entered back into the sanctuary from the road, there was a big sign that said "NO BIKES!" Well, we had to get back, so we went. I wanted to scream "I'm an AMC member, sorry, I love the outdoors." We felt really bad, but secretly, i was sorry that I can't ride here, becuse it's really nice and not technical at all. Oh well. We found the right trail, which looked horribly muddy, but it was starting to get dusky, at 3:30, so we headed back. It was really invigorating and I was proud of myself for staying clipped in the whole time.
