You ladies beat me to the punch. I'd thought about posting earlier wondering about Silver. I hope you are mending in both mind and body! (((((HUGS)))))
Don't think of it as getting hot flashes. Think of it as your inner child playing with matches

Brace is gone and the break is healed so I am good, started physical therapy monday and my extension is getting better but the flexion is REALLY tight and hurts to stretch. I get to swim though so thats good and it really helps stretch it out alot and its good to be able to do something beside kick finally!! I can't wait to ride again but he said not till i am released which is hopefully december 12th.

    Thanks for asking!

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERONE!!!

    Making progress!

    Hi Katie -

Your messages are always so full of positive energy. Where do you get your inner strength?
I hope you make progress with each therapy session.
The swimming should help a great deal. You already know that.
What plans do you have once you get back on the bike? I now carry pepper spray for mean dogs. I know that some situations don't give you any time to prepare, but you've learned a lot from this experience. (Volumes of knowledge)
Do you have some kind of I.D. with you when you ride? I wear a velcro wrist band that has all my important information.
I'm having my left wrist surgery on Dec. 15. I'll be in a splint for about 2 weeks. I'll still hike and ride my trainer. I'm going to use my recovery time to try to teach my golden how to jump up in the back of my truck. This will take a lot of patience. She is a very sweet dog. My lab-Rottweiler already knows how to jump. My golden is a swimmer and she is in our pond all the time. Maybe I can fill the back of the truck with water!
    Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

    hi

hi katie and all! i'm so glad that you are doing so well! i hope that you get released to ride at your next visit.

i'm not having a good recovery this week which is why i haven't been on the board this week.

i did have a good report on my lung on monday, but wed morning i fell in my bathroom and hit my right arm on the side of the jacuzzi tub and broke my right arm (tibia i think) when they x-rayed it,they found that i had chipped my wrist in the bike wreck also. so now i have my right arm in a cast.

this feels like a huge setback when i was just getting comfortable with the broken rib pain. i'm dealing with a tremendous amount of depression.

don't mean to be a downer, so sorry. can't type with the right arm either so this is taking forever.

the good thing isthat hubby is home for the weekend and taking wonderful care of me.

Well, first off... NO MORE TYPING FOR YOU! You need to rest and with your arm in a cast... no typing. *Hugs*

It sounds like you have had a setback... and it makes sense why you are depressed about it. Thank goodness they found that chip in your wrist though.

Hey, it's OK to be a little down. Give yourself some time to lay in bed, sleep, and feel blah... then... you can focus on being more positive and not being depressed anymore.

I know for me, if I give myself x amount of time to be depressed... it works. Then, I also know when I have to get myself back together.

Take care... only let your hubby type... and it's OK to feel down.

    That sounds great Katie!

I can't believe time has flown by... well, it seems quick to me... but maybe not to you?

Good luck on getting back to swimming. Take care.

    Hi

    Hi Silver -

It is good to hear from you. Contact me through my e-mail if you want, and maybe I can visit you soon. I have a vacation just around the corner. Only two more shifts to work early next week and then I'm free.

My next bike wreck "installment" can be shared with you in person. Maybe it would be better to talk about less stressful things though.

Bette Midler's "Mud will be flung tonight!" CD seems to be a better choice. I have a copy. Haven't listened to it for a long time.

You have surely been tested lately. More than one should be asked to go through.

    I am sorry.

I hope you got some sleep and that your weekend has bright moments. The weather will be nice. I'm going for a 25 miler on Sunday. May be my last ride for the year?

Thank you for sharing with us.

    Barb

Silver, I'm sorry you're down, but you do deserve to feel sad for a bit. I agree with ksh - decide how long you can be depressed and then stick to it. It's worked for me and it will work for you!

Not that it gets you on your bike any faster, but it might bring a smile to you once a day....if you'd like to be on my picture list (one photo taken by myself sent to your email inbox each day), just PM me and I'll add you. I've included a sample....

Heal well and completely, they found that chip for a reason, honey!

    Hugs and butterflies,

Broken ribs do seem to take forever to heal, esp because they are in your core and so effect everything you do. There will come a point soon where you will be able to start to do more. They will feel strange, but not painful.

& the arm thing just sux greatly. Esp at this point. Rent some movies and get some trashy novels, oh, and get better.
