I'm coming for a visit and I'm bringing my bike

Well it's time to start thinking about our trip to California in December. We have a wedding to attend on December 31 at Disneyland of all places! My little chick and I are leaving Spokane the day after christmas to drive down. Right now we plan to be in the Sacramento area Thursday, Dec. 28. Anyone available for a ride? Then on down to So. Cal. and the wedding.

Does anyone in Orange County know of a New Years Day ride? Or if not, any TE'er interested in riding on New Years Day? We are spending the first week of January in Hemet, visiting the inlaws, and I'm hoping to get some riding in too! I would love to hear from anyone who might be available for some new year riding. And I'm keeping my fingers cross for some of that good old California sunshine I remember.

There's a ride to Rose Bowl Parade on new years day, from 100 miles to 20, depending on whether you start in Riverside , Upland(60) or Azusa. If it's not raining, That's I'll be doing, more than likely from Upland ( I live in Rancho Cucamonga). Bump this or PM me in December , and I should more, since I'm the secretary of a local club

    New Years Day

I grew up in South Pasadena and spent every new years day at the parade. My friends and I use to get up at 3AM and walk up to the parade route.

That ride sounds like fun, but maybe too early in the day. I'm going to be at a wedding the night before . . . and may need the morning to recover!

(Rose Bowl Parade?) This is a long standing pet peeve of mine, The Rose Parade was around long before any bowl games. It just drives me nuts when people combine the two.

Hey, there! I have no idea what is happening travel-wise (relatives are all over the US). But I will put the date on my calendar and as soon as I know something I'll let you know. It would be fun to organize something. Maybe Marty will be around. Have you told her? She doesn't hang out on the forum.

    Biker Hen,
The upland ride starts at 6am The Azusa starts at 8, but that's an awfully long drive from Hemet.... How long are staying? i,e, is there some we (more than likely moi) can organize on a Saturday/Sunday?
I was not sure of the exact title of the parade (yes, I'm not a native Californian, That's obvious when ah open mah mouth...)

    I need week day rides

Hi All, Sadly most of the weekend days are going to be spent coming and going. The days I have to ride are New Years Day and that first week of the year. We will be heading home the end of that first week. New Years Day we'll be in Orange County. The Rose Parade ride sound great, I'd LOVE to see the parade again, but thats way to early in the morning. Don't worry about the name slip Fredwina. Just a pet peeve! If your available that first week let me know. Your just over the hill, kinda!

My sister inlaw, mother of the bride, has been telling us all year we must eat, drink and be very merry at the reception. And while I can easily do that, I would rather not party too hearty. I figure if I have a ride planned for the next day I can keep myself under control! Maybe! bikerHen

Almost time to hit the road!

We leave a week from today! Yipee December has been a brutal month at work and I've been working 7 days a week all month. I'm ready for some time off and warm(er) outdoor riding.

Looks like we'll be doing the quick trip down to So. Cal. There are some pre-wedding parties that could prove to be very entertaining that I don't want to miss. The trip back north will be a little slower, and I would still like to meet up with some of you central California gals. I'm thinking Sunday, Jan. 7th. I hope that might be a more doable date. So, let me know if there is any interest . . . bikerHen

I'm sure that I'll be riding on New Year's Day. I would have to be home by noon (too many super-long rides coming up to secure more childcare), but if you'd like to ride, let me know. We could do Santiago Canyon...or a coastal ride if you'd like. What kind of mileage did you have in mind?

Hi bikerhen! I live in the San luis obispo area and there is a couple awsome rides I would love to do with you if you are in the area. I have a mtb set for road biking this time of year cause it gets to muddy on the trails. I am a little slow cause of the bike I have but if you like hills I got some good ones here with some amazing views. Pm me and let me know if this is doable. what kind of miles are you thinking too? Our rides are short or long. I live in a little town caleed Los osos look it up and check it out. Morro Bay is right next to us and has some great places to stay and you are right by the ocean. Should not be to $$$ since it is the off season for tourist here.

Bikerhen I'm in Orange County as well and would like to take you on either my favorite road or MTB trails. Right now I'm in cruiser mode trying to recover from my injuries but know of some fun rides we can do. I have no kids or family obligations to worry about so no time constraints. I would love to meet you!

Brandi, My sister lived in Los Osos back in the late 70's, so I know just where you are. It is a beautiful area. Thanks for the invitation but we will be staying and traveling inland on this trip.

bcipam, Would love to get together for a ride. We are bringing the road bikes. Cruiser mode works for us. I'll have my husband with me and that's about his only speed. Are you available for a week day ride? We have the first week of January for playing. Bikerhen

I'm am definitely - just give me your dates... since you know this area want to go towards the beach or ride inland (ie hills or flat?) I can do my Tour De Irvine to Newport Beach and back using mostly bike trail. I can also do the Tour of Lemon Heights up Jamboree to Villa Park and back.

Give me some idea of distance, time etc.

I guess if anyone else is interested let me know.
