Oooh, ooooh, I got a tattoo!
It's meaningful and momentous and marks a turning point and is perfect and in the perfect spot and is exactly what I wanted in every way.
First tattoo. I'm just thrilled!
I had it done at a shop owned by two women and with only women artists. The place was full of women getting tattoos or watching their friends get tattoos. The shop environment was very comfortable, I had such fun!
ETA: here's a subtle hint to what I had done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojydNb3Lrrs One of the other artists looked over my artist's shoulder to see what she was doing, and started singing this song! My theme during the process (which did hurt at times) was "don't panic."![]()

Your tattoo has a voiceover by Stephen Fry?
I'm glad you had a good experience!
(And now the song is stuck in my head...)

So by my calculations the hiring manager said he'd be done with the first round of interviews during the week of the July 1st. I called yesterday, he said he had an interview that day and another one on Friday and then he'd be done with round one. No wonder he works in construction at the Free Range Panda Belly Chili Cannery I work for. Then he'd make his choice for round 2 and let us on the short list know. I told him I hope to hear I've made it to round 2

OMG; I thought the day would never come. My orthodontist told me today that he's planning to take my top brackets off at my next visit in three weeks' time. At the risk of jinxing this, can I just say how EXCITED I am. The bottom teeth still need a bit of work, but wow, this is big. It's been almost four years (October of 2007) since I got them, and it's been a royal pain in the teeth a good part of that time.
Getting braces was a big step for me, emotionally and physically. Beyond the fact that I badly needed them (I was a thumbsucker as a child), the fact that I didn't have them as a kid was an emotionally charged issue for me. My older siblings had them, but by the time I needed them, my parents were so self-involved and wrapped up in their own problems, that I got neglected...in more ways than one.
So, taking care of my teeth was not just an act of taking care of my adult self; I felt like I was taking care of my child self, too. I'm proud of myself for doing it. I was so afraid at the time that no one would want to date Ms. Brace Face. Those fears were silly in retrospect. Not quite a year later, I met Brian...and he married me anyway. He's never seen me without them. I sure hope we're both happy with the results, and that I don't fall face first while learning to MTB. I have $6k sunk into these teeth.
Anyway, I thought I'd share.

I've been told that. I'm sure it'll take at least a few days to readjust. Then I get the retainer, which I imagine I'll wear 24/7 for a while and then switch to just nights.
When you wear braces and all their various accessories, e.g., rubber bands and powerchains, you get used to almost constant pressure on your teeth. Even when they remove everything just during an office visit, the lack of pressure feels really weird.

Indy - to celebrate, eat popcorn!
That was something I had to give up when I had braces, so the first bag of theater popcorn was really good!
