a couple of my girlfriends succumbed to the DC5 after they gave a local concert. i NEVER forgave them. This strikes me as hilarious today; but the height of my emotions on that subject were spectacular!

Ahhh, I didn't know that. I like "Bowie" better.

That's funny!- me and my best friend were madly in love with the beatles too, made scrapbooks from cutting up teen fan magazine pix...OMG the memories. My GF loved Ringo, I loved John but I was very depressed that he was married.
Sixth Ave. in Manhattan had little vendor stands all up and down the avenue....dozens and dozens of vendors selling only beatles fan mags, beatle records, and...beatle WIGS!!! Grownups actually walked around in the city seriously wearing cheezy Beatle wigs! I kid you not, that's how crazy it was.
And we thought any girls who liked the DCF were total TRAITORS and had to be INSANE!

Add me to the list! I was sure (at the tender age of 12) that I would grow up and marry George and was devastated when he married Pattie Boyd. I still love watching him in A Hard Day's Night from time to time.

I also had a brief crush on Davy Jones when The Monkees were in their heyday. I think it was partly because he was only 5'3" - perfect for 5'1" me. Facially he hasn't aged too badly for being 63, but his shortness kinda makes him look like a Munchkin. I have to agree with BSG about the rest of the baby-faced teen idols though. Paul McCartney would look much better if he'd stop dying his hair. Who is he trying to kid?

Dave Clark was good looking, but for some reason, I liked Mike Smith better. He died last year of complications resulting from a fall that had left him a paraplegic. Sad.

What about Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders? I saw them in person in 1966 (my first concert ever - talk about dating myself!) back in their light blue velvet, white tights, tricorn hat days. I was screaming my head off in the fourth row

    Those were the days...

A friend of mine is pregnant, and have a tough time of it. She found a re-usable barf bag - This is just wrong on so many levels!
    http://www.morningsicknesshelp.com/red-e-bag.html

And the most concerning part to me is, do they really expect you to walk around all day carrying this bag?
Where do you dispose of your used liners?
And more importantly, what do you do if you need to use the bag and the liner is full???

TS- I tend to not talk to pregnant people. The ones I know tend to overshare like that post. Plus they come in clusters at work, I worry it is contagious or something. j/k

But the Wirral is close to Liverpool. UK-E's bf is from there. So is Daniel Craig. They went to the same school. Craig was known as a wimp because his mother wrote him notes to get him out of playing rugby. UK-E's bf got out of rugby by a different route -- his badminton coach would tell the rugby coach that [UK's bf-to-be] was needed for such and such a badminton competition and therefore must not be injured. Apparently Craig wasn't good enough at some other sport to get out of rugby that way. His old schoolmates think this is funny now that he plays Bond.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

And being from the Wirral he also has some claims to fame relating to the beatles....Apparently McCartney's family live in the same village.

On a different note, this is the view along my new commute to work now that I have moved to Wales....I could get used to this:

    Oh, UKE!
    That looks positively idyllic.

I've always wanted to go to the area where "Last of the Summer Wine" was filmed.

what a dilemma, found out a cool band is playing at a restaurant really near my house, but it's a vegan restaurant, the kind with fake steak, fake fish and fake cheese. Ew.
I guess we'll go somewhere else.
