    Congratulations, Bluebug!

    Let's see... My bikes are...

    2008 Trek Madone 5.1
    1991-ish Miyata steel
Some sort of mid-1990s Trek mountain bike

I really only ride the Madone. (Rumor has it the mountain bike has a flat, but I haven't bothered to check it out.) I love my Madone. I love my husband for encouraging me to buy the Madone.

Goals: I would like to do 3,000 km this year, but I'm already a bit behind schedule (and probably looking at knee surgery in the next couple of months, too). Ç'est la vie. I'm really pleased with my current level of fitness and how I'm climbing, so if I can keep that up, I'll be happy.

    2008 Cannondale Caad 9
2009 Surly CrossCheck - my commute bike

My husband is looking to start riding and will not ride my tricked up Surly with the pink accents and handle bars. So, I'll be riding the Surly a lot more this year. I just got the stem switched out so it should be more comfortable for distance riding. I love it other than that. My Cannondale cost more, but I like my Surly.

I'm enjoying having two really high quality bikes. I don't think I need any more.

Luna Eclipse that I purchased in 2005
Bike Friday Pocket Rocket Pro that I purchased in 2008.

I also have a Jamis Coda Comp that I purchased in 2003. It was my commuting bike when I was a commuter, and it served me very well. It is now my city/errand bike.

My goal to ride in Chile has been put on hold (I was supposed to be riding there now). I'm not one to keep track of mileage, although that would probably help me meet my other goals: do a century, ride in the Texas Hill Country, and do another tour yet to be decided. Maybe C&O Canal; maybe out west somewhere. I also want to continue to improve my daily riding and use my bike for transportation whenever possible (errands 5 miles from home or less, for example).

I've done a little more thinking about my goals for this year. I can't really ride until May, sadly (combination of school and really bad (read: uncontrollable with meds) allergies). I also decided that I need something a little more specific.

    1) Make most of my rides (weather and body permitting) 20+ miles. Since I wasn't even sore after my last ride, I think it's time to up the mileage a bit.
    2) Put 1000 miles on my bike.
3)Keep up with BF--he's a sprinter and has been doing this a lot longer than I have (plus he lives where he can ride through the winter... ). I'm not sure I have a chance there, but I can try.
4)Figure out where my strengths and weaknesses are.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I bought my first road bike last year - it's a 2008 Specialized Dolce Elite that I named Gabby:

My second bike I just got this past weekend - I bought it used and I'm really excited even though it's not high end at all. It's a Leader brand steel bike - I got it for going around town and hopefully doing some touring this summer! I have no idea if I will like touring so I didn't want to buy a new bike - if I find I like it someday I'll invest in something better. I've named this one Jude.

    Edit: I forgot my goals!

    1) I would like to find a club to ride with - I'm not sure if I'll be able to become fast enough for group rides, but I really want to try!
    2) I want to go on a couple tours this summer, either alone or with a friend.
    3) I want to ride as much as I can - I spent so much time this winter thinking about riding, now that spring is coming I want to take advantage of every opportunity!

I have a Giant Avail 1 that I bought in Sept. 2009. It's my first road bike and I absolutely love it!

    Goals are:

    1. Ride as much as possible this year
    2. Try and keep up with my husband while biking (he's had a bit of a head start, before he got his road bike in May '09 he was regularly doing 15-20 mile rides on his mountain bike- ouch!)
    3. Run a 5K and do a bike race
    4. Tackle the hills about 7 miles south of where I live

Who had bought a heavy bike (close to 30 lbs.), not because it was an efficient bike, but because it "looked good"?

Maybe we're starting a new trend...instead of buying a fur coat, buy a bike!

Here's the specs on my bike, since I happen to have it available to copy and paste. We bought the frame and put all the components from dh's old bike on it, then slowly changed out several of them.

    2007 Cannondale Caad9 Frame
    Dura-Ace Group Set
Easton EA90 SLX Wheel Set (my Valentine's present this year!)
    Cannondale Carbon Slice Fork
    Bontrager Stem
    Easton Carbon Seat Post
    Speedplay Carbon/Titanium Pedals
San Marco Mantra saddle in white
    11-28 Compact Cassette
    50-34 FSA SLK-Lite Compact Crankset
Dura-Ace 52 Crankset and Bottom Bracket
Easton EC90 Handlbars w/ Fizik handlebar tape in PINK!

I rode 4,350 miles last year. I guess that's around 100 miles average per week. Usually 3-5 times a week with my friend. Sometimes with our club, sometimes events.

Just did the Solvang century, which was my first century of the year. Potentially doing OC Century and Cruisin the Conejo (century) all in training for Heartbreak Hundred in May (7,500-8,000 feet of climbing).

Also planning to do my first road race. Panoche Valley Road Race in May. Almost did it last year and chickened out. Almost did Bulldog at Camp Pendleton recently, but it rained. So hopefully this one will happen.

Will probably also do Cool Breeze, Amtrak and Tour de Foothills later in the year. If I do all of the above, it will be my most ever centuries in a year.
    GO RIDE YOUR BIKE!!!

    I own:

an Orbea Onix Dama (my normal bike for rides)
a Novara hybrid (for commuting, errands that involve it being locked up somewhere outside a building)
Some sort of Cannondale Mountain Bike (for camping trips or whenever my boyfriend can drag me on mountain bike rides locally - not often )

I will average 10 miles a week on the Novara commuting to work, I hope to get in another 90 per week on the Orbea to average 100 miles per week this summer. But ski season isn't over yet so I won't get started on that probably until mid April.

    I ride a Trek Madone 5.1 (2008)

I normally average at least 100 miles a week but between the weather and my nonunion fracture I have been putting more miles in spin class! Actual road miles have been averaging 100 miles a month But depending on what the doctor says today and the return of evening group rides (with the time change) I should be logging more miles!

My goal is to ride more! I would like to do the 62 mile Frank Pollack Memorial ride next month and the Horsefarm Hundred in Oct and Horrible Hundred in Nov.

Indeed! As much of a pain as it is to adjust to DST in the mornings, I totally love the extra hour of daylight in the evening - totally worth it.

I keep my inventory on BikeJournal for easy reference (http://www.bikejournal.com/profiles.asp?rname=TomEzell). The Cross-Check went to Bike Heaven the week before last after The Crash, so it will get replaced by a Surly Long Haul Trucker in the next couple of days. The Specialized Globe doesn't get used much anymore since I got the Cross-Check, so I probably ought to look at finding it another good home, but it's still a cool bike to have as a loaner when the Little Sister comes by to visit. Most often I ride the Orbea for club rides and the distance events, and the Surly is my usual working/commuting/teaching/fooling-around bike. Steel be real ;-)

right now I am down to 2 bikes, but in the past my stable has included

    1999 Specialized Allez
    1999 Marin Bear Valley
    2004 Cannondale Mulitsport
    2006 QR Caliente

Now I have a 2008 Specialized Ruby and an older Specialized Rock Hopper, maybe 2002 or so. I no longer do triathlons so there's no need for a tri bike but I would like to do some cyclocross and get a cross bike.

My goal for 2010 is to ride, period. I'd like to be in some sort or shape for skiing and snowboarding when next winter rolls around. This season was just sad.

    1) 2008 Specialized Roubaix S-works SL.
Currently has 2010 Ultegra 6700 and Dura Ace 7900 components
    2) 2009 Specialized Tarmac Pro SL
Mix of parts: Dura Ace 7800 shifters and derailleurs, DA 7900 cranks, and Ultegra SL brakes

Wheels: DT Swiss Mon Chasseral (training/climbing/wind) and Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR (racing/hammerfest)

The Roubaix used to be my race bike but has been retired from that life. He now goes on long training rides, casual/recovery rides, and spends a lot of time attached to a computrainer with an old Shimano rear wheel.

The Tarmac is the race machine that also appears on most hammerfests and travels to the mountains for snappier descending. Some long training rides are also done with this bike.

Goals: Try not to suck too much this year in my new race category. Spend more time on the bike.
