My bikes:
- 1996 Trek 700 Multi-Track hybrid w/ Xtracycle - purchased in grad school, converted to be my minivan last October
- 1999 Sycip road tandem - our wedding present to ourselves. Doesn't get used so much these days, but we're hoping to put a stoker conversion kit on it so that our almost 7 year old can ride it with one of us and start getting him out on some longer rides
- 2001 Torelli Corsa Strada road bike - this was my 30th bday present from my husband and I love it. In February for my 39th bday, we just upgraded the Campy Veloce 9 speed gruppo to the Athena 11 speed. I sometimes think I want to try a lighter road bike, just to see if it would improve my hill climbing and speed, but this fits me so perfectly and is just so comfy that I can't quite motivate to do it.
- 2008 Felt F1X cross bike - just got this off of eBay 2 weeks ago and haven't ridden it more than around the block yet. We re-ran the brake cable yesterday, after removing the in-line brakes, and I still need to adjust the rear derailleur before I can get out and see how I like it. The stem feels a little long and the handlebars feel a little wide, but we'll see!
- 2009 Sweetpea custom 650b mixte - my 'round town, do everything bike, but dang, it can haul *** when I want or need it to. And it can climb well too, thanks to the compact double on the front and 11-34 mountain cassette on the rear. Someday, I hope to do some longer tour rides with it since I have a front and rear rack for it. When the boys are older and we can do some bike camping. I love and adore this bike and it was well worth the wait.
I also have a hand-me-down Trek 5200 OCLV, that lives at my in-law's cottage in Michigan. It's a touch big for me, but I only ride it for 2 weeks a year, so that's ok.
Goals:
- Ride as much as I can, whenever I can. Sometimes, that means 2 miles a day, taking the boys to school and back. I'd love to get out on long "real" rides more often, but until both of them are in full-day school, five days a week, I don't see it happening. And since my husband rides too, we usually have to divvy up the weekend mornings.
- My other goal is to ride and finish at least one cross race this fall.
- Get stronger on hills. I've been working at this, and I'm getting better, but I've got a ways to go still.
- Finally do a century. I've done a metric century, but never a full 100 miles. It's about darn time.
