I managed to get off work an hour early tonight, so I can go to the RHPS (otherwise it was doubtful). I need candy. The guys are passing by my window and occasionally noticing my fangs and (while subtle) dramatic eye makeup. Felix (this guy is TROUBLE) keeps asking if I'm going to bite him. It started out like "I'm scared... you're not gonna bite me, are you?" then "....could you bite me?" then ... "I wanna get bit...." always teasing. Boys. I told him I was too young for him. He says "Yeah, you're like, 19, right? Didn't I see you trick-or-treating last year?"
    Uh, No.

    but...
if someone's offering candy... hey. =) I'm there.

Yup! It's going on 10 years now I think. The guy that organizes it is a Highway Patrolman. The police and fire departments usually have a car and truck for the kids to investigate, along with all kinds of goodies. Stickers, coloring books etc. Each year it seems more people show up, the marching band started coming about 3 years ago. One of the band members was a babysitter for the patrolman's kids, and said they wanted to join the fun.

That's just a bit cruel. I love it.
Xmas time when I was barely 18, I loaned my Mom my vehicle for the day cuz hers was being repaired. She just had to pick me up from work that afternoon. So I come outside with my coworkers at the end of the shift and there stands my Mom in a Santa suit... with all the stuffing in the boobs. (think Dolly Parton Santa) She starts swinging them around and doing a little boogie right there in the parking lot! Immediately had us all on the ground. The thing is, that's totally out of character for her. She's normally very quiet and subtle. She manages to crack a joke about every 3 years. It was, however, exactly what my Dad would have done. She knew I was missing him badly since that was our 1st Xmas without him. When I recovered enough, I went right over and gave her the biggest hug. (It had to be big, those boobs were huge!) I'll never forget she did that for me.

Knotted, today he's embarrassed but someday your son will look back on this and realize that he has a truly incredible Mom with an amazing and creative sense of humor. What a lucky kid.

p.s. Of course, when I play Santa, I put all my stuffing in the rearend. Makes quite a fashion statement. Little hard to drive tho. Ya gotta put the seat the whooooole way back.

I can't wait to see Inez!

Snap, your Halloween parade is very cool. I'm a total sucker for little kids in lion suits and the like.

Mimi, we should've had dinner--we would have had fun! Have a wonderful trip---hope you got all your spatulas for the cousins.

Lise. How totally delightful to listen to you burble euphorically.

X, I didn't see your early morning, now-gone post, but what a genuinely gracious, kind P.S. you wrote about it. I'm not kidding about this. Nicely done.

KYet, you by God better post coconut pix.

Our beloved Siamese cat Beeper has been in the critical care animal hospital since Saturday. Slowly getting a little better, but is 16 with newly diagnosed polycystic kidney disease, so we'll be glad to have her back home soon but know it won't be forever...between Mom, house, toe, job in a higher-stress level at the moment, and now the Beeper, I am hoping someone will just whack me over the head with a baseball bat and knock me out for a little while, just for a break (full recovery has to be guaranteed beforehand. And mashed potatoes and gravy during the rehab period. And good books. A little chocolate...wait--maybe I can do this BEFORE the baseball bat descends...).

After be-jeweling my walking boot, I got liberated from it yesterday by the doc, so if anyone needs it, let me know. I am thrilled. Now I know how painful it is for people with legs of different lengths. MAN, the rest of my body hurt more from that than the damn broken toe did.

Fish. Nice to see you. Interesting bee stuff in the news, about the honeybee genome.

BMom (see? yet another variation of your name here), sounds like you had a cool Halloween.

Well, there are pumpkins smashed on the road a few houses up. (sigh) I'm lucky, they always leave mine alone. Here's some from years past. Not enough time to do many this year. I've collected more patterns I want to try though in case I find time this w/e. Better late than never I guess. My Mom "orders" some every year from me. She got the only one I carved this time. Well, it is Mom afterall. (Emmitt Kelly, the king of clowns) Of course, I forgot to take a picture.

I took out a whole paragraph (on a post to Kitsune) but the offense was a very mild crack about Dubya. The rest was pure genius. There were some real gems in there, gems I tell ya!

    but thanks, salsa.

No pictures of Butch Island Girl.

    Sorry. Oppotunity lost.

Slicked back hair. No earrings or makeup. TIGHT tight TIGHT sleeveless shirt. Really goooooood bra (if you know what I mean). Baggy Levis rolled up a bit so my wool socks showed. Black leather steel-toe boots. Bike chain tattoo on my bicep.

    that was the butch part.

Island Girl part was: pink flower over my left ear. Rainbow leis around my neck. Coconut bra. Grass skirt.

Yes, black leather is hot. My feet were very sweaty.

I went to bed last night with hope and awoke to disappointment. Next time we'll have to send the TE TD official photog on a secret mission.

My proposal was submitted at 5:45 yesterday. So after one good night's sleep, I feel like I've emerged from my 3-day-old brain-fried state. OK, maybe my brain is still feels sort of sauteed. I put my bike in my car this morning and am planning on a 2-hour mid-day ride. After working all day Sunday and 14 hours Monday, I can afford 2 hours off. Assuming my brain is working well enough to stay awake while I ride...
