He said for females who have coarse hair popping out in unusual places, like on the chin or back, to see a doctor. If the hair growth is caused by insulin resistance, it might mean you are diabetic or pre-diabetic or your diet is too high-glycemic or you are carrying too much fat around the middle. If it is a hormone imbalance it might be a symptom that you have ovarian cysts or a similar problem. You want the doctor to say it is genetics, hopefully. I got the impression, though, that the primary reason is that the female is diabetic or verging on being diabetic.
Darcy, did Dr. Oz say these causes apply to menopausal women too? I always thought that sprouting facial hair was just part of growing old but now I wonder if I'm pre-diabetic or if I inherited my whiskers from Granny Sasquatch!

Hey, I share in that genetic pool. First time I have heard of anyone else who doesn't grow hair on their legs. I shave the 3 blond hairs on my legs about once a year, and only if I can find them. My face, on the other hand, is getting more hairy with age, so I wax it every two weeks.

So is it true about the blood flow, and no hair? I don't have any varicose veins on my legs either and al lot of friends are always complaining about them. Is there a correlation? Wow, is there something about my body I can actually like?

I rarely shave my legs. I just go with the flow. I am blonde and have blonde hair. I shave my armpits all the time, but I don't get hair on my legs.

As far as leg hair and riding are involved, it's really only bad on the backs of my thighs, as it's harder (for me, at any rate) to do a good job shaving. It's really bad in winter and jeans.
I have dark hair, so it's visible. I can get away with skipping one day, but no more. Even in winter, I shave nightly, due to the problem with jeans.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Ditto. It keeps me up at night if I can feel it in the sheets (usually on the third day), too!

I love my Greek ancestry...except for the hair.
