I'm trying to pack my tri bag for this weekend, like right now. Got all stressed cuz there is no way my pump is gonna fit on my bike, and even if I bungee it onto my rack, I'm afraid it would fall off and cause an accident behind me. (i usually carry it in my pannier)

so do I go buy a little one (Topeak Road Morph) tomorrow and try to attach it the morning of the race, or do I trust my tubes not to flat and just go without?

And I can't find the bra I wanted to wear with my blue t-shirt tomorrow. Which is only the packet-pickup and bike-racking day, so why should I really care if my bra matches my t-shirt?

Really, the goofy things I find to fret over...

    drowned rat

Hey, I'll be your drowned rat for the day.

A friend & I planned a mtn bike ride for today, rain or shine. Guess what, it POURED when we were out...It was so much fun but i couldn't see without my glasses...Picking the right line was hard & knowing if i was going over rocks or leaves was interesting. The river crossing we laugh at during the summer was indeed a river crossing today! The batteries in the camera weren't charged enough so no photos today kids.

I was SOAKED by the time we got back to the car-we looked rather funny when we walked into the cafe for a coffee....

I don't have to explain how heavy my clothing was when i placed in the washing machine...

Ian & are out mtn biking tomorrow..I get to have fun in the mud again!!!

    have a good evening...

You are amazing, CC. I only ride my bike in the rain if I absolutely have to. With glasses on? No. I had Lasik a year ago, so it's not an issue anymore. But as blind as I used to be? I would have missed all the fun you had today. Glad you had a blast! Sleep tight! L.

Good luck Lise and KY and Snap! Happy riding/swimming/running - whichever you are doing!

I'm in at work putting final touches on my talk and reading up on bee research.

I went for a run this morning (first time in a month, I think) and my knees hurt! Not good. It did get some stress out, though.

They've started defoliating the cotton fields. This is really really bad for breathing. It's a good time to be going out of town.

SK, My best to you and your family. My thoughts will be with you in the times ahead as you know Duck on Wheels and I also lost our Dad to cancer so I'm not surprised your Dad knew it was back. My Dad had a remission for many years, then it came back and we thought he might have it beat but then it came back.

Happy riding, tri'ing, running, anything that ends with an 'ing (except golf) to TE & TD. I need to pump the tires, walk the dog, get ready for a short East Bay ride in with Different Spokes, might see the Spazzdog there too I'll say hi from TD if you want.

    Snap, feel better!

Trek420, definitely say hi to Spazzdog, and have a great ride.

Fish--good luck with the slide. Or you could just say you dropped it and it broke. Oh. Not that kind of slide?

And...I'm off to Kenosha, triathlon hot-spot of the midwest! See y'all when I get back! Tales to follow! L.

Yes Lise - it's not a glass slide, it's the other kind. I'm feeling much better about my talk now. My current obsession is about what I'm going to wear. I've just been shopping (not my favorite thing to do, unless it's for bike stuff) and found nothing. Yes, I have clothes. But I wanted a cool skirt. I don't have one of those and apparently the stores don't either. Oh well. Black pants and white shirt it will be. Classic, but boring.

CWR - they spray the cotton fields to kill off the leaves so the cotton bolls will pop open and be harvested. It is sprayed from crop dusters and smells something like erasers, but sharper. It has a very petroleum odor to it. Not gas, but something else. It's nasty and makes everyone cough and sneeze and have major sinus issues and such. It starts to accumulate. The smell gets into the car when driving past the fields. I feel like I don't want to breathe when I'm around the stuff. Needless to say, when they start defoliating, the outdoor riding ends for a while.

Snap and Kit - hope you feel better.

First, SK, I'm sorry about your dad. I missed that whole story, somehow. Poor dad.

    Rant About My Snake

This is so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, Maizey would not eat the CENSORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. She licked it a bunch, and nuzzled it, and later let it ride around on her back...I left her with it in her usual feeding container for about three hours.

Then, this morning, after I had nightmares about the CENSORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all night, I put her back in (probably stupid, but it was still alive and I didn't want to waste it) and she showed no interest. While I was making lunch for later, I peeked in on her, and she wasn't in the container!!!!!!!!!! Panic!!!!!!!!! She was in the laundry room, on top of the washer, so she could be in quiet almost dark lighting. I call BF, and we clear everything out, then I look down behind the dryer with a flashlight, and there she is, about four inches of her sticking out from the disconnected dryer exhaust hose, which goes down under the house and out!! We make a plan- (this is a tiny laundry room) BF will quickly pull the dryer out and I will swoop in as soon as I can squeeze between the dryer and the washer and grab her before she can turn and disappear forever under the house.

The plan goes off perfectly- except instead of trying to escape, Maizey doesn't move- like, "what are you doing grabbing me up so quickly like that???" Major heart attack. Disaster averted. I can't believe the lid wasn't latched securely. I can't believe we located her within five minutes of discovering her missing.

The CENSORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, BTW, went on a motorcycle ride down to the neighbor's cornsnake.

I felt her belly, too- no eggs in there.

PS- Are you happy now? Because I am not- I think sending people PMs to tell them what you do and do not want to hear about REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you find my subject matter offensive- put me on your ignore list. That way your sensibilities will no longer be offended.

Humph to that PM thing. Go Nanci. I love hearing about Maizey, and she is who she is and she eats what she eats. I keep trying to convince all members of the universe's food chain that warm chocolate pudding would create world peace and make the lion lie down with the lamb (armed with bowls and spoons only), but only a few girlfriends have taken me up on that thought so far. So yes please--anyone offended by Maizey's diet, please ignore the posts rather than ask that the posts not be made. The rest of us would like to read them. First Amendment and all. Thank you.

Nanci, I have found my goofy little half-Aby cat, Nina, sitting quietly side by side with a mouse she captured and brought inside. Since neither of our two cats got trained by a parent cat to hunt, they don't really know what to do with what they catch, except to play with it for a while and then ignore it. Our cats once spent an entire day trapped in our very small bathroom with a mouse they'd brought inside who then cleverly hid in between the magazines in the bathroom magazine rack. They were obsessed with the fact that the mouse was in there somewhere but never could figure out quite what to do about it. Silly girls.

Nanci? Sounds like there's a problem? Did you forget to get a vegan pet? Snakes eat censored, my dog eats some censored and some vegetable matter. She likes avocados, fruits, oranges if they are peeled first and loves to chase grapes.

I'm told I should take it easy on those.

People eat censored that's why we have incisors is for tearing up censored.

If I could live on chocolate pudding I would certainly do it. Chocolate is deadly to dogs! No pudding for Mae. No rice pudding even! Somehow she copes.

Even though my dog eats censored I feel good about her being a rescue dog and giving her a good life. I would never buy a pet, would always get a shelter pet.

I think that in itself is a very animal friendly thing to do.

Nanci you do soo much for animals, it's partly because of you that I was inspired to get two bird feeders, build a toad house (so far no toads, maybe they need a little sign).

Everybody join hands and sing Kumbaya....
