can i do this 90-mile ride?

ok, is there any way I can make a 90-mile bike ride given the following circumstances:

    1. I'm relatively out of shape and have "sprint" muscle fibers
    2. I haven't gotten more than 6 hours of sleep in the past 3 weeks
    3. the bike race is this Saturday (route is relatively flat)
    4. the bike I have is only "adequate"
    5. the last time I practiced was 7 weeks ago . . . I rode 22 miles and was pretty beat after that

    Do i have a prayer's chance?

Sounds like you've got a lot of things going against you...but you didn't mention the two most important aspects...what's in your heart and head?

what do you mean? my head says there's no chance i make it (especially since apparently you can't listen to music either during the ride . . . if i had music i could at least not pay attention to the ride)

I'd say it's possible, but you are going to suffer. The big thing that will suffer are your sitbones, if you don't have a lot of saddle time then 90 miles is a long time to spend and you will be feeling very tender and inflamed afterwards.

Are you naturally an endurance type or a sprinter type of rider? If you're naturally good at endurance, I'd say you'll be able to finish it as long as you eat well and pace yourself (but your butt will still hate you). If you're a natural sprinter... I'd advise against it.

What are your goals here? Just to finish?

Well if your head says you can't make it then that's a problem. If your heart is really into it and you want it bad enough then you probably can. Honestly, I don't know why you would want to at this point. I'd take the time to catch up on some sleep. Riding under those circumstances you are likely to hurt yourself or someone else. Hey, but it's your ride.

No. Simple as that. You'll be miserable, and you will be a danger to the other riders.

    That was my initial thought...
