looks like most of the rain clears up later in the day out in Ione. Should also be nice here in the east bay.

    Have fun!
    Cheers!

Ok Ladies I made my decision last night as logistics for getting three little boys out of bed, fed and dressed by 5.30 takes some time. It was still saying rain until later in the day so I decided driving 4 hours (total) to ride 50kms (I only signed up for the short ride) maybe in the rain seemed a bit daft.
Im disappointed this seemed like a great day out for the whole family. I contemplated going on my own but it would have meant nearly a whole day of family time gone.

So for all the riders that went I want ride reports.

As of 9:45 PST, here's what the NWS says:

Mostly cloudy. Slight chance of rain showers then slight chance of rain. Probability of measurable precipitation 30 percent. Southeast wind 7 mph. High 62.

Hopefully that chance/slight chance didn't chance to happen! I think it was cloudy last year...can't remember. I do remember that I wore tights, so it couldn't have been too warm. I'm thinking about youse gals doing the ride. I think I did PP for something like 4 yrs running. Instead today I am caulking my shower. Oh joy!

See I knew it. I told my husband if I dont go you watch it wont rain and if we haul our butts all the way down there with the kids it will and they and I will be miserable.

I hope the girls have a great dry ride.

Oh, I think you made the right decision, TH. If it had rained, your poor hubby would have been pretty challenged, I think. I probably would have done the same. Wet, miserable children that can't run around in the park....yeah, you done good!

Highly toxic goo that you put around the edges to (in my case) keep water from running under the shower enclosure onto the floor. My bathroom is, shall we say, uniquely constructed and after many different attempts to keep the water in the shower, I finally decided that I had to use the goo.

And no, it's not fun. But at least I'm not working outside in the yard in the rain like my hubby! But then, I think secretly he really likes getting all muddy.

No your right that does not sound like fun. Make sure you get plenty of ventilation dont want you passing out in the bathroom in amongst the goo.

Im going to try and get out for a ride later in between showers and my husband if going to take the kids to see Ice age 2 while I ride. At least this option keeps everyone pretty happy.

Have a good weekend and happy caulking.

I hope you at least get a chance to ride between showers! Let me know if your kids liked the movie!

Crud! It was a simply stunning day! Bubba and I located Jobob and Leebob at the last rest stop just as they were leaving. Bubba and I chose to sleep in a tad while the Bobs luxuriated in hotel comfort only 15 mins from the ride start so our start times were a tad different. I never saw Kim and by the time I thought to call there was no cell phone service. I'm soooo disappointed.

Since we didn't know what TrekHawk looked like we kept designing ways of getting people to talk. Figured she stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the "Mercans. We gotta better coordinate the BAB ride, like maybe I could put her phone number in my cell phone so I would have some kind of tracking device.

It did rain on us during the drive to the ride, but the ride itself was gloriously clear with beautiful puffy clouds, wind and lots of flooded meadows. Geez, will it ever stop raining! Please, somebody.

We may have to wait for Jo's ride report as they decided that their change was too heavy and, rather than carry it home, they could deposit it in the Jackson Casino's slot machines

Of course - I never gauge the weather correctly! The Pilot decided last night, while it was raining, as it had been all afternoon, that he wasn't riding. I wasn't real keen on driving 85 miles each way to ride in what I expected to be "unsettled" conditions. Then I bailed on CindySue's ride too, since it was raining this morning, and ya know I'm whiny when wet.

I'm glad everyone had a good ride. I really enjoyed the ride last year and love that area. Will have to try again next year.

I did think about the Bike Bus, but didn't want to impose. Really. You two will be hauling my bike to Utah soon, I can't call on you every time I need a lift.

Glad to hear you had a good ride. I knew if if I didnt go it would be lovely.

Im going to BOB even if it looks like flood conditions (and from what I read on the weather site that could be possible).

Definitely have to work out a plan for that one so I get to meet you all.

Huh? We were going anyway. We're driving to Utah anyway. We don't get your company that frequently and it is so much easier to visit in the car than chasing you up the hills.

TrekHawk - no more rain talk. Don't tempt it. I can't believe how little mountain biking I got in this year.
