Oooh, I was diving in a lake in MN, and saw a bike pedal reflector sticking out from the muck bottom. That's all I could see- the edge of the pedal and the reflector. I grabbed ahold of it and pulled, and the whole bike came up! Muck was really deep...

I'm going to start paying more attention now to what's around me. All I've seen is the usual garbage. But other people have commented on seeing strange sights...namely me. Have a look at my avatar (finally figured out what one is...). Bike is my only means of transport, and the cat had to go to the vet which is about 2 miles away.....One of my colleagues had a good laugh when she passed me on her way to work that morning.

Don't you always see the most cool "garbage day" stuff waiting at the street when you're on your bike? I saw two complete sets of kids sized skis and poles - I just couldn't strap them to my back! Maybe it's time to buy a Burley trailer?

OK. The TBRF story is a classic. That is a great story, Nanci. I am curious about why f-e-t-u-s always comes up bright red, though. And, I seriously doubt that the guys' discussion board has anything with that word in it!

I have a particular fondness for large nails or metal pieces. The other day, I found a piece of metal, broken off, with just the word "GO" on it. Probably part of a car name plate. I brought that home and leaned it up against my clock. If I bought home all the twisted metal I'm attracted to, my dining room would look like a junkyard! I usually just let it lay. As others have said, how do you lose one shoe and just carry on? I suspect drunkenness in that one.

uk eliphant, LOVE the cat carrier! I bet I could easily strap the cat carrier on my back rack, and I also have a soft carrier that I could probably sling across my back. That would be an interesting ride....mmmmrrrrroooooowwwwwww!

OMG! The cat carrier pic is SO great! love that... hope the kitty is doing well now...

OK.. the only thing I ever picked up beside the road was what appeared to be a purebred German Shepherd puppy someone dumped... it was making little noises and we rode past it on an uphill... slow enough to see what it was... stopped the bikes, called for a ride home and the little guy went to the pound (had some water and part of a PBJ as well... all we had with us!)... they gave him all his shots and exam and we called back every day... the first day he was up for adoption he found a good home with a couple who already had a GS and never expected to find such a great looking pup at the pound... if he had not been adopted quickly, I'd be living with him now! I picture him at the dog park with his big brother now...

On a small group ride we found a beautiful black kitten with the brightest green eyes. Someone had just dumped her. One of riders kept her and named her Pita -- Pain in the a%$. Fortunately one of the cyclists had on her back pack and Pita rode in there quite nicely. Happy ending!

    toilet!

There is a toilet on the side of a road we ride regularly. But I don't want to take it home. It's sitting about 10 feet off the side of the road...bathroom break anyone?

If you did your search on the word fetus, it would be highlighted in every thread.

I must admitt I found no odd things beside the road... Once I saw a deer runing next to me, and than run right in front of me to the other part of the road. It was quite a scenery. I had to put on a brake so I don't hit her I could already see a headline in our newspapers ... Crasy bike driver run over inocent deer...

though i didn't find anything unusual, my DH did, he once found a new leather motorbike jacket. He was just returning home from 10days ride with his friend. They couldn't posibly found out whom did it belong to, so they've sold it to some bikers and went to a restaurant and eat first proper meal after 10 days.

So... Nanci... did anyone ever claim it... and if they didn't, was a good bike?

It was some ancient 10-speed, which we left in front of the house where we found it, and it was gone later.
