Super duty/extra super duty tampons do it for me for the most part. I rode the whole Bicycle Tour of Colorado with extras in my bike bag and pockets

No big deal. If there is a little leakage it's not enough to show outside and a little cold water afterwards and you've got clean shorts again!

I know it's not for everybody but the one thing that's most changed my life in this area has been continuous oral contraceptives. I'm on the pill, and I skip the fourth (placebo) week. I haven't had a period for almost six years. As I said, a lot of women may feel funny about completely eliminating periods, but it's SO wonderful for me. I don't miss them at all!!

My OB/GYN ok'd this, and in fact she does this herself, and of course I have regular exams. Here's an article that explains it better: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=5458926

Interesting article, particularly the part about how women are menstruating more now than they did in the past. I have three children and in a span of seven years, I only had three periods. I had lactation amenorrhea and then as soon as my period would return I would get pregnant again and then my period wouldn't return until the baby was between 16-21 months old. I really miss that and I have considered looking into oral contraceptives, even though dh had a vasectomy after our third was born. My periods since they returned two years ago, have been awful for me and they come every 23-24 days. My only concern is the weight gain issue...if I could be guaranteed that it wouldn't happen, I'd be all over taking the pill!
