Are you doing STP in 1 day on the tandem? You should be fine - you have already done the whole route - this is just compressing it. Be sure to start plenty early. 200 miles is a day takes a while, no matter what. You want to get as much done with early in the day as possible.

    Sounds fun!!

SK, you need to carry the large size tranquilizer dart reloading kit for moments like this. Although it sounds like yours was the greater need in this case, what with hotel pool aliens to be dealt with.

MP, we are doing it again on the tandem. Plan to be across the start line by 4-4:15 am, like last year. Good weather forecast--no hotter than high 70s, AND a slight tailwind instead of the usual headwind. Couldn't be better. And it IS a fun ride.

Just to put TD back on the right track: the song currently going around and around in my head: Road to Nowhere, Talking Heads. Why?? Who can say?

Seriously. Are you watching the old one or the new one? I think the old one is wierder. Gene Wilder wasn't playing it so much for laughs.

Note to self: Don't sit down to get caught up on TE with a tub of tapioca from the grocery store and a spoon. Waaay too much gets eaten.

It's gotten pretty hot and humid up here, which means run early, if I'm going to run at all. So off to bed.

The new one - I'm a J. Depp fan to the zillionth degree. His different facial expressions throughout the movie had me in stiches.

Roald Dahl, who wrote "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", also wrote some short stories for adults that are kind of twisted and delightful (see his collection "Someone Like You"),

I love Roald Dahl. I read Charlie and Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach to my class this year and then we watched the movies at the end of the year. I love Johnny too but he's pretty weird in the movie. I hated that I read about a connection between the way he played his character and Michael Jackson before I saw the movei. It kind of wrecked it for me...
