I used to use Norplant, for three cycles of five years, till they took it off the market, and meanwhile had moved to Florida, and was unable to have it removed, since the office I was being seen at hadn't installed it. Finally they found a GYN who would remove it, for $250!!! (I thought the removal cost was included up front!) I'm like, no way, I'll just keep it forever. But then a PA I worked with took it out for me at work one day...

So I'm suspicious of something like that happening with the Mirena some day, and that's an even worse thing to get a bootleg removal for!

But, they offer 12-month financing, (why doesn't my health insurance cover it, but they do cover every single other thing, including tubal lig and pregnancy???) so that _almost_ makes it affordable. $45 for a year. Geez...

My NP offered the NuvaRing, too, but if I was going to do that, I'd just do the shot.

Is estrogen contraindicated in people with family history of breast cancer?
