42.5 miles for me. Very Hot, but nice ride from my house to the Idaho stateline to watch some of the biking at the Coeur d'Alene Ironman. It was fun watching them whizz by. Lots of people standing around cheering the riders. Didn't make it all the way back home though.I wasn't drinking near enough water for the heat, mid 90's, and had to call my personal SAG to come get me.
I really feel for the triathletes in the heat today! They still have that 26 mile run to do.
A nice cool shower felt great when I got home and I'm drinking lots of ice water. Now if daughter and I can convince the husband this is a pizza night, all will be well.bikerHen
Yes! Pizza it is.

I think I may have done 2-3 rides today.
Started out with a Flat. Drat! fixed it and made it to to the meeting place for the 7am ride. A new woman had decided that she wanted to do the longer ride, I thought about talking her out of, since it was mostly the hammerheads. I took my group out to a breakfast place in Upland. we soon got a call on the cell phone form the "Hammerheads" asking if we could pick up the new woman. I changed my route a little bit, and soon had two extra riders to look after. One of the guys had crashed last week , and decided to hang with us. We soon made to the restaurant. This place is famous locally for having a section where you can bring in your dog to dine with you. We wound up in the doggy section ,largely to watch our bikes. I left my riders to go to church. After church , I decided to swing by a LBS to get a new tube. no 700X25 long stem prestas! Grrrr... wound up going to REI. They had them in sock. The local REI is not in a very bike accessible place. Wound up doing some extra mile , both for fun, and to make going home easier. Made it up a hill in my medium chaingring that I had to use my granny gear for before. was going to some mountain biking , but the heat and a sinus infection have put the kibosh on those plans. Otherwise, A great day on the bike
I got in 11 big miles on my new recumbent bike. I had a blast and with time I'm sure I'll feel more comfortable, just have to adjust to the new ride. I had to leave it at my BF's place this evening for I already had my little blue bike in the car and did not have room for the new bike. I'll pick it up tomorrow and take it for a spin.
Did my first metric century today - totally unplanned! It was hot, hot, hot (95-100 degrees). I don't handle the heat well and I wasn't even sure if I wanted to go for a ride so I said we'd would just have to take it easy and play it by ear. Somehow, we just ended up about 50 km away from home, and of course we had to get home...I was slower than usual, especially on the hills, but we took a few breaks and waded in one of the lakes to cool off. Got home (after that darn 2 km 8% hill at the end) and my odometer only read 97 km so I forced myself ride around the neighbourhood for another 3 km before I came in.
Glad I put on sunscreen before I left because I got pretty burned - I'm lazy that way - hate the stuff but my daughter nags me if I don't. Soaked my head at several gas stations but was still too hot. I think this is what I'll be in for this summer unless I try REALLY hard to get up early and head about before 8am. (We didn't leave until 11 this morning...)
Did a nice 25 km ride last night after the heat had subsided a little - down on the greenway along the creek - got home about 9:30 pm, nice thing about living this far north - it's still light out...
