I'd have to say it was one of the worst organized rides I've done -- ran out of food and water at rest stops and at the end of the ride, ran out of t-shirts (in all sizes except XS and 3XL), no visible SAG, poor route markings, no porta-potties -- you name it. And rumor is that they don't get any permits or insurance.

The riding was good. I recall climbing a lot -- OLH, Tunitas Creek, Page Mill. It was hard, but it sure didn't feel like 7,000' hard.

but nothing's as bad as the Tour de Peninsula freinds don't let friends ride that.

Also I think I did this a long time ago and was not the metric, whatever they had below that.

Thanks for the info velogirl, I was toying with attempting the 70k (snap's out of shape still.....) Guess I'll skip it, I'd hate to get stuck out in NeverNeverLand without any sign of support.

Snap- Come and do the metric with us! Gaby from Napa is a great navigator! She'll make sure we dont' get lost!

Thanks VG for the update on the climbing part. I'd hate to do that much work only to find no food, no support and no reward at the end!!!!

Roberta Gonzales did it last year (KCBS weatherlady) and briefly mentions Tunitas Creek climb. I figured it is an 8% climb for 4 miles. No fun!

Not afraid of getting lost BG - just pooping out. The majority of the route is in my back yard. My max ride this year is about 30 miles; and that was a while ago. You guys have fun, give us a report when you finish.

I'm thinking of doing the 70k and it sounds like we're in about the same shape... However I fell on my bike and bent the derailleur just a tad ... my bike shop said they can fix while I wait on Friday - if that is sucessful I should be good to go on Saturday....

A good ride - the 70K was more like 45 miles, rolly polly hills, not too hot.

Route was well marked and rest stops were well stocked.

Good fun!
