Sandy: You could just put some slicker tires on your MTB and it would help make the street riding smoother. Although I subscribe to the premise that one can Never have too many bikes - they do start to whine just a little when I walk by one that hasn't been ridden in awhile (like my MTB! LOL)

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Probably the "I'll ride this everyday" one I told myself in the shop when I bought my bike!

Most memorable moment on my bike: So far, that would be huffing up the hill to my home and absolutely running out of steam then forgetting to uncleat my shoes from the pedals. You know how that went

Most fun ever had on a bike? Going down the hill my home is on.

Shere: welcome back home! and welcome to the board. Have you wandered over to BikeJournal.com yet?? it's a free site to log your rides on and we've got a team over there tracking our miles. It's surprising how motivating it can be- I mean - if you're looking for an excuse to Not have the "I'll ride this one every day" be your biggest lie anymore!


SandyGirl: my friend here rode her first every 1/2 century on a MTB with road slicks on it. well....or she started to anyway, then flatted, then had the Specialized guy loan her His custom road bike..........anyway - it's the perfect compromise until you can afford another bike! Or...it's the perfect commuter bike!!

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 65km/hr on a long descent on a good straight road, last summer.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Of course I've been training every day!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Cycling a full 4 miles in one go 3 years ago, and realising that this was a viable means of transport! It was a very sweaty revealation, but more or less changed my life!

Most fun ever had on a bike? Racing my boyfriend, who is the fastest creature in the world on two legs, but not so speedy on two wheels.

remigo, I think that's way cool! I was an electronics technicial years ago, before I got hooked on programming. It's still a useful skill. Being able to rewire stuff around the house is pretty satisfying.

Y'know, I'm actually quite reluctant to do any of my own electrical work - I am doubly nervous of electrical power because (a) all the safety warnings we get at work (b) imagine the embarassment if I did electrocute myself! I can see the headlines "Electrocuted Engineer in Shock Shame".

At the moment, it involves a lot of rain gear - it's the wettest May we've had in decades.
