DH told about taking a taxi ride in India once. At night. To "save" battery power, the driver would only switch the lights on now and then, take a peek at road, then switch them off and drive on in the dark.DH's snapshots from that trip include lots of roadside wrecks.

Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
