    Welcome SandyGirl and SheFly!

Sandy: You could just put some slicker tires on your MTB and it would help make the street riding smoother. Although I subscribe to the premise that one can Never have too many bikes - they do start to whine just a little when I walk by one that hasn't been ridden in awhile (like my MTB! LOL)

SheFly: TT on a tandem?? Now ThAT sounds like a blast!!! I would Love to see a pix of your TT Tandem!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    Real name: Wendy

Where do you live? Reston, Virginia

Explanation of your handle: Arabian Nights- I have spent the majority of the last two years in the Middle East and most of that time in Iraq.

Explanation of your avatar: avatar??....you mean I could have an avatar??

    Age (general or specific) 41

    Occupation: Accounting- Gov't Contractor

Favorite bike: A Colnago would be nice!

What's in your stable? Cannondale R1000

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Not sure- very new rider. 20mph?

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I'd have to hunt around for pics- don't have many.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Probably the "I'll ride this everyday" one I told myself in the shop when I bought my bike!

Most memorable moment on my bike: So far, that would be huffing up the hill to my home and absolutely running out of steam then forgetting to uncleat my shoes from the pedals. You know how that went

Most fun ever had on a bike? Going down the hill my home is on.

    "slicks"? never thought of it!

CorsairMac, thanks for the tip...never even thought of changing out the tires on the Mtn bike...cheaper than a new one at this time. I will look into it!

Shere: welcome back home! and welcome to the board. Have you wandered over to BikeJournal.com yet?? it's a free site to log your rides on and we've got a team over there tracking our miles. It's surprising how motivating it can be- I mean - if you're looking for an excuse to Not have the "I'll ride this one every day" be your biggest lie anymore!

SandyGirl: my friend here rode her first every 1/2 century on a MTB with road slicks on it. well....or she started to anyway, then flatted, then had the Specialized guy loan her His custom road bike..........anyway - it's the perfect compromise until you can afford another bike! Or...it's the perfect commuter bike!!

    Hello ladies!

    Real name: Claire

Where do you live? Cork, Ireland

Explanation of your handle: I'm no Latin scholar, but I believe it's Latin for "I row". Since bikes weren't invented in Roman times, I don't think there's any Latin for "I cycle"!

Age (general or specific) 24.85 years

    Occupation: Engineer

What's in your stable? Specialized Sequoia, Cahill Hybrid

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 65km/hr on a long descent on a good straight road, last summer.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Of course I've been training every day!

Most memorable moment on my bike: Cycling a full 4 miles in one go 3 years ago, and realising that this was a viable means of transport! It was a very sweaty revealation, but more or less changed my life!

Most fun ever had on a bike? Racing my boyfriend, who is the fastest creature in the world on two legs, but not so speedy on two wheels.

Thank you! I've been lurking for a few week, so I know what lovely ladies frequent these pages!
I'm an electrical engineer, for a utility company. Not terribly exciting but it pays the bills. Are you an engineer too?

24.85? Did you need a calculator for that?

Ya' know, EE's aren't *that* precise. Glad to have another electrical engineer here. Enjoy your career in power.

remigo, I think that's way cool! I was an electronics technicial years ago, before I got hooked on programming. It's still a useful skill. Being able to rewire stuff around the house is pretty satisfying.

Y'know, I'm actually quite reluctant to do any of my own electrical work - I am doubly nervous of electrical power because (a) all the safety warnings we get at work (b) imagine the embarassment if I did electrocute myself! I can see the headlines "Electrocuted Engineer in Shock Shame".

At the moment, it involves a lot of rain gear - it's the wettest May we've had in decades.
*smilie is blue with the cold*

    Thanks for the welcomes!
