2 things about heavy bags- YOU generally have to CARRY the bag to your tent which might be a long ways away from the truck. And when you are tired, it's not fun. You also have to CARRY the bag AND your tent BACK to the truck the next morning. So, keep it light if you can.

I also recommend that you put air in your tires when you get in from the day's ride. Otherwise you will have to wait in the morning sometimes 1/2 hour or more to get a pump. I was lucky- only had to pump my tires once that entire week. BUT, do check the pressure daily. You must ride at 100-110 lbs minimum.

On that note, I hope you all have good tires. If you don't, now is the time to get them on your bike! Your goal for the ride- no flats. Start with good tires and the recommended tire pressure. Flats occur when you don't have enough tire pressure, bad or worn tires, bad tubes, and of course, unforeseen junk on the road. So, you can prevent a lot of misery by being proactive in this regard.

On that note- pack in a couple of spare tubes in addition to the one tube you take with you at all times. IF you have a flat, you can save the flatted tube and replace it with a new tube for your spare the next day.

UK, are you following this? There will be a test...next year

what Bike Goddess says "keep it light if you can."

a wheeled bag is a must unless you have a backpack.

good morning routine is pack, head to the truck with helmet gloves and bike shoes either in hand or on the pack. Once at truck put tennis shoes/tivo's/keens whatever on top of bag so they will be ready for schleping use on arrival to next camp. Ask kind, fast and well organised tentmate (thanks BG!) to make sure you don't take off with the BIKE SHOES IN THE BAG.

I've done that, had to aks the luggage crew to get it back out

"check the pressure daily. You must ride at 100-110 lbs minimum."

Funny, I never had to wait long to pump the tires, I do this in the morning on the theory that my tires will be hot from my blistering speed (ignore the sound of TE gals hysterical laughter in the background) so the PSI will be up. But check the tires each day, nothing slows you down more than a flat.

"Your goal for the ride- no flats. "

I thought it was to have fun, ride safely, support a good cause

I think my LBS was kidding when they said they were out of my tires in 26 so they gave me 25's. I could feel the difference. why train? Buy speed!

But seriously get new tires and .... where there is a bike lane don't hug the far right, don't go over it to the left either but the road debris is gathered in the far right and people who stay there on this ride...flat a lot.

Spokes!! If you have wheels with non standard spokes take a couple of extra. Some people do keep those on them taped inside the seat post. I would think the rattle would drive me batty. My LBS let me borrow a couple spokes and I kept them in my bag figured if I need one and the mechanics don't have it in the truck worse case I go into camp, get the spoke and ride the next day. Because I brought it I did not need it, If I hadn't....

24? Unless I counted anyone twice. And many of those will be at the Saturday ride.

Who's missing? AG, Spazzdog of course, Velo Girl aka Lorri (and one of these days I think the board should all show up at a Velogirls ride and/or a Lunachix event). Can we count Bikeless? She was born and raised here at least. Or she can take "dual citizenship" when the Europeans do a count.

Everyone signed up on the map?

    TE Frappr Map

Now, if we could just get the map admin to change to default so all the markers load at once. That map is so sad looking with only fifty little balloons showing. You can even set the map so you can see the entire world on the initial load. It's pretty impressive to see everyone at once.

This Sunday! Thanks for asking. It'll be some sort of Bianchi. I'm traipsing all the way into SF because I like the sales people at Pacific Bicyles (they're near work.) Plus they're having a pretty good sale this weekend. I've been reading everyone's comments on the key accessories, which have been extremely helpful

I'm the frapper administrator. I don't know how to change it. I tried. I think you have to keep hitting the "show more markers" button until all 282 pins are showing. The only defaults I can change are zoom & center and map type.

If you want, I could make the map default to zoom in on your house, SK...

AG, it looks like logging in as admin with your password and then click in the upper left to simply access the map, can't find this in the options menue. So just log in first and go to the map, you'll see in the lower right of the map it says something like 45 of 93 shown, something like that, click on show all. It should change the map to show the entire map of the globe at the same time.

What I don't know now if that setting stays the same or just for that one view.

I took the Frapper map idea to "my other board", that's how I tried this.
