Maybe the next generation they come out with will be lighter and less obstrusive on the bike.

23oz...if I rode a lot in an urban area I would get one, no question. There have been times even in my rural community where it would have been useful.

Hand pumped air horns have been around for a good long time. http://www.amazon.com/Delta-Cycle-Ai.../dp/B008BNKIGE

Oh, I've never seen those air horns! Thanks for the link, I ordered one. Has to be way more effective than screeching, "Hey, Hey, Hey!" when someone nearly kills me (at least 3-4 times a ride)

This is a great horn for traffic and dog deterrent. You can get refills for it.

This is much better than the air horn. The idea to use the sound of a car horn is excellent. People react and stop. Plus, it isn't incredibly loud, like most of the airhorns. You really don't want to give a pedestrian a heart attack with a blast of the airhorn.

Yeah, Goldfinch, I just got the airhorn and had those same thoughts. It is light as a feather but a little too loud and, well, air-horn-ish (i.e. sports hooligan-ish...). I will be using it the next time I can see someone is about to pull out in front of me without looking, but I would really rather have the one that sounds like a car horn.
