    Dear cat,

Please stop eating things you find lying around like toilet paper (WHY?) or your toys. You don't appear to have suffered any major consequences yet (apart from orange, feathery poop), but there's a first time for everything. You get expensive food and treats. What is so interesting or tasty about toilet paper, anyway? The toys I can understand. ("Kitty hunt toy! Kitty kill toy! Kitty eat toy!")
At least I don't leave slime trails.

My cats are into destroying my cork coasters. I bought a replacement package because I thought those would stay intact, and yet they managed to destroy the second package too.

I will suggest felt coasters. Far more effective than any other type -- they catch any dripping (like condensation form an icy drink), and probably not as exciting to feline claws or taste buds.

Isis couldn't care less about cork. She would absolutely destroy felt ones, though.

    Dear Cat,

I'm very glad you're a bit more happy in the new house, and I'm thrilled that you know your way outside now. But no, you still don't have a cat door, and you're not getting it back quite yet. So unless you want to be locked in the kitchen again all night (and no, you can not break your way out through a regular size door with 2 kitty paws, claws or not), you'd better shut up. We're not getting up at 5 in the morning to let you out to romp in the snow.

PS. Even though it's cute, hiding under the bed when we go to bed doesn't help either. You're terrible at hiding and we can hear you.

I bought a pack of cork hot pads (like coasters, but a whole lot bigger) - they all ended up being cat toys.... my male cat loves, loves, loves to use them as scratchers. They are kind of messy though...

    Dear cat,
Why do you leave poop nuggets all over the house? Your box is cleaned every day. Don't make me shave you!

You are so strange. You go downstairs and howl, pathetic howling at best, and after 1 minute or so of howling , you come back upstairs. And as near I can tell you only do this once a day if you do it all. I wish you would tell me what your problem is because you sound so forlorn.

Dear cat. Yes, it's still winter. Actually, if you follow the old joke about seasons in Saskatchewan, it's Almost Winter. Winter is still to come, followed by Still Winter, followed by Road Repairs. No good going to both doors several times a day, it's still -20 ºC with snow everywhere. And you know how you hate to get your paws cold and wet.
Relax. It will be Road Repairs before you know it, and you can drag me all over the neighbourhood again.

    Aw :-)

We'ved had down to -15 C for almost two weeks now, and it has made it a lot easier having an outdoor cat in a new house. Not much need to worry about her getting lost... after three minutes her butt is cold and she's mewling to be let in again :-D
