This is the same for Canada also. Already a doctor-sister told me this....after all, she is one with the authority to phone/contact family member on health care issues/death for her patients. She is an emergency services doctor.My financial adviser told me I wanted a medical power of attorney and one for financial issues. Could be the same person but doesn't have to be. I guess it might differ depending on the state you live in. And I'm sure there are differences for folks who live in other countries.
