I'm really sorry to be a crankypants, but I'm finding the new user interface hard to read, in both the default and blue styles.

I find the Ariel font difficult to read.

A couple of suggestions influenced by the old forum format: I'd like to have the TE retail website open in a different window when I click on "Shop". I also miss the thumbnail previews of pictures in individual posts.

    Hi Artista,

The thumbnails are working now. I'm working on a fix for the shop link but it involves modifying each template - in the meantime, you can right-click on shop and choose "open link in a new window" from the drop-down menu.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Thank you, Jeff. I'm getting the impression that this format change is an enormous undertaking. Thanks for all that you and the others do to maintain this forum.

Thankfully, I changed it back to the default style. I hated that dark blue. The change is bad enough, but at least this looks a little like the old forum.
I understand needing to upgrade so stuff doesn't crash, but for what I do on the forum (read posts in the regular threads, no subscribing or looking at things that are only new), I don't see any change in the way I use TE.

    If you're looking for feedback...

I'm bugged by having to click to get to a log in
and I think the User name banner above each post takes up too much vertical space--so that my whole screen only shows 2 or 3 posts at a time. It makes for a lot of scrolling down.

No deal breakers though. Good work.

    Hi Crankin,

The primary reason behind the upgrade is to stay on the current version so we can continue to get security updates.

There isn't much in the way of new functionality that we are using (there is a "blogging" feature and some Facebook integration that I haven't turned on -- it can post to your facebook page whenever you post here -- didn't think anyone would really want that!)

I should add that the UI for the individual threads is easy enough to read, and pretty similar to before. The pages that list threads are the ones that are harder for me. They seem kinda busy, and the thread titles don't stand out as much as I'd like.

For me the font when the "new forum" first went live was very nice (tho I can't remember how it looked now). Now it is all scrunched up (not enough spacing between the lines), like instead of single-spaced lines, it seems more like less than single spaced. Anyone else see this? It just looks really busy and is tiring to my 51-year old eyes!

I'm reading on a standard laptop, not a mobile device. Is there any option for the user to modify the font displayed herself?

I'm using Luburox Blue skin, Internet Explorer 7. I can't seem to change my profile details..ie. my signature. I tried "Edit" button but doesn't quite work.

    Not critical at this time.

I do like the new look overall. I don't use a iPhone, etc.

    Hi Shootingstar,

Can you elaborate on "doesn't quite work"? I went to Settings (top right of page), then Edit Signature, and was able to edit and save my signature. Does it not let you edit, or does it allow you to edit but then the edit doesn't get saved, or ???

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I'm using Window's 7 and Explorer 8 and using the new luburox blue skin. I like the additional colors, new font, font size and so fourth. I'm still trying to figure out what the different color envelopes mean. I could probably read up on it and find out but I will figure it out soon. Been a bit busy this week to be on the forums much anyway. Also it's nice to have the choice of different skins. I like the new normal one and the red. Nice.
