OT - could you go a week without computer/internet?

    Hello everyone,

I am leaving tonight for Pittsburgh to visit my parents. My dad will be 89 on April 3rd. My mom is in her 70's. Needless to say they do not own a computer! My sister, who lives in Pgh too, does not own a computer. My brother does but he is out of town on business (hmmmm I wonder if he leaves a key under his welcome mat? LOL). My other sister, like me, moved out of state and lives in Iowa. She of course is the one who owns a computer. So will I be able to handle a week without getting on line to check my email and forums? My husband is coming with me and he has a laptop but he is not bringing it because it has confidential work stuff on it and he wants to get away from work! I admit it, I am a junkie of the internet/computer. My husband is not and he says this will be good for me! What the heck does he know?!

So, my questions to all of you . . . can you go an entire week without logging on?

See you in a week! Unless I either

    1. Break into my brother's house
    2. Locate a local library and tell my folks and hubby I need to find a book to read (but I'm really going to get on line)
    3. Go to a computer store and see if they have a computer on line . . .

Oh besides computers . . . I WILL NOT BE RIDING EITHER! Oh man . . . lots of catching up when I return.

Mmmm not sure about that one. We dont have TV so I keep up with the news etc from the internet. I guess the world wont stop spinning if you dont have it.

Enjoy your week away, look forward to hearing about it all when you get back.

On Saturday we leave for Moab. On Tuesday, yellow and Veronica will be joining us for a 5 day mtbike tour of the Maze (better be rainfree ). 9 days without internet access. If either of them brings a laptap and some kind of satelite hook-up, they are dead meat. Peace, quiet, solitude and the stars. No urban intrusions. OK, the truck hauling our gear is OK.

Since Evil Coach and Photog Thom will be along, I'm sure there will be plenty. I'm even trying to decide if I should leave my camera home because he'll always do a better job.

I can live without computer, TV or newspaper...

We do not have TV and only a weekly newspaper. I do not listen to the radio mostly.

but I log on mostly when I'm bored. But if I am away, I am away. Usually my cell phone is not even charged

    What part of Pittsburgh, Susan?
When I go back to Pitt (my hometown), I'll stop in a local library and log on if I can't stand it any more. Usually a week or so away from the computer is good for me, though.

Well, I wouldn't die, but I would suffer hideously.

There's an Apple store at South Hills Village. Their display computers are always online. Where in Pittsburgh are your parents? We moved to St. Louis from Pittsburgh three years ago. We were in Mt. Lebanon.

    Library ...

If it were me, I'd probably be jogging and stopping in at the local library to check my gmail and cruise the forums.

    Have a great trip!
