I am kind of in awe of your writing about Don's last hours. Not only is it beautiful, but it shows us all the right way to die. I know that sounds weird, but so often, death is so medicalized.
Again, I am thinking of you. I hope you don't mind a Jewish prayer in Don's name.

Oh Mimi, you are so strong and the way you wrote about his final hours was just beautiful. That is the proper way to pass, surrounded by loved ones and also shows your love and that of your family. I hope you don't mind a Greek Orthodox prayer for him, and for you and your family.

I sit, writing this, with tears falling onto my keyboard. Mimi - you are a beautiful, strong, compassionate woman and today my heart breaks for you. Like others, while I never met you or Don, I feel as if I know you both. Keep Don close in your memories - revel in the happy, good times that you shared and know that he loved you.

My sincere condolences to you, your sons, and your entire family at this difficult time. As someone else said already, we here at TE care about you deeply - continue to rely on us as necessary in the coming days and weeks.

    With much love and hugs,

oh, Mimi. I don't have the words to express my sadness at hearing this news. I am heartbroken for you and your family. Don will always be with you.
Thank you for sharing his last day with you. It sounds like he left in the same loving embrace that he entered the world- surrounded by his favorite things and people. Praying for peace and comfort for you right now. Sending much virtual love your way...

This. Hospice care is so amazing...it allowed my FIL a dignified passing at home. Mimi, I am so thankful that you had family there with you. I hope Don's physical body can do much to help doctors learn and teach and make life more comfortable for others.

My heart goes out to you and your family...what a special soul he must have been to have his loss reverberate so far and wide, even with folks who didn't know him personally.

My thoughts are with you and your family. We lost my mother-in-law to cancer on the same date, 4 years ago. She also passed peacefully at home, with family around her. I don't know where your beliefs lie, but I like to visualize Jean welcoming Don to the next existence, pain-free and strong again.

Whatever 'heaven' is, there must be bikes there, right?

Condolences to you and your family Mimi. But so wonderful that Don passed surrounded by love.
It's all about the journey (my reason for riding slower)
