    Dear Drivers:

WTF???? Please, please be more careful. The person you ran over and killed yesterday (on the 4th of July) was our state director of mental health From what I had heard, a good guy, who did a lot of good for a lot of people. You were driving a logging truck. Come on people - be careful out there when you're piloting your cars, and especially when you're driving a larger and more dangerous vehicle.

ETA: You didn't go into the left lane because there were cars coming. WTF. You couldn't slow down and wait 10 seconds??? I really hope the reports that there are charges pending are accurate.

I don't even know what to say anymore

More ETA: They're now not sure they're going to press charges. Bleh. The driver saw the cyclist and hit him. How much more blatant does it have to get.

    Disgusted.

Oh, that's so sad, Blueberry. The impatiences I see on the road as a driver and cyclist really makes me sick.

What really saddens me is always the comments.....

I find it to be so maddening that people's "solution" is to stay off the road...

People a "speed limit" is just that an upper limit not a mandate.... when going around a blind corner or facing other obstacles to vision, handling, etc. the solution is to *slow down*, so that if there is something unexpected you will be prepared for it.

I've ridden/walked around in other countries where it is expected that the roads will be shared by many means of conveyance and the motor vehicle is not automatically accepted as most mighty, so never wrong. There's a different feeling... you can tell that drivers are actually looking out for you, rather than treating you as an enemy or target....

This is just awful, apparently his stopping traffic would have been worse than hitting a cyclist! By not prosecuting that is exactly what they are saying. (((Blueberry)))

I read about this horrifying tragedy on the WRAL website this morning. It made me very sad and very mad. So few of the rural roads in NC have adequate shoulders, and there are a lot of big trucks flying along. These things shouldn't happen, but it seems like they do, far too often. Even once is one time too many.

I sure hope they press charges.

Good news (if you can call it that) - he has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. I think that's probably everything they could charge his with.

Emily - this was north of Raleigh on 401 - a 4 lane divided road. I probably wouldn't ride that road, but you can, sometimes it's necessary, and he was completely within the law in doing so.

ETA: I knew better than to read the comments. I *knew* better. Grrrrr.

We had the Blue Bell version of this recently. It was divine, as are most of their flavors. Hi, my name is Indysteel and I am an ice creamaholic.

I've seen these two new Blue Bell flavors and I REALLY want to try them...

    Southern Blackberry Cobbler
Creamy ice cream with a luscious blackberry flavor combined with flaky pie crust pieces and a blackberry sauce swirl.

    Summer Berries
A very berry-licious flavor! A refreshing, citrus ice cream mixed with strawberries, blueberries and swirls of raspberry and blackberry sauces.

They are enticing me away from their wonderful Mint Chocolate Chip...hmmmm a new flavor might be what the doctor ordered for my slight injury recovery - thankfully I CAN limit myself to a 1/2 cup or less amount. That is the only way I will allow myself to buy any at all...
