    The Positive of a Negative

Most of you are probably aware that I have been suffering from Plantar Fasciitis and am slowly recovering. Tomorrow will mark 8 weeks since the onset of this particular hellish affliction, and while I'm getting better, I've still got a way to go.

I believe that good things can come out of bad fortune. While I am disappointed that I will not go back to running, I am very happy to be regaining the swimmer's muscles that I lost when is got back into running! In addition, I am back to rowing, something I used to love to do.

I miss taking long walks but I'm sure that it's only a matter of time before I can do that again.

Injuries are the pits. But they offer us opportunities to discover new or rediscover old activities, and they give you a chance to get stronger---physically and mentally.

Glad you're on the mend. Totally agree about injuries opening up new doors/opportunities!
Hope it keeps healing, and that you keep loving the new avenues you've taken because of it. And don't rule out running forever. A friend had a horrid case of PF. Her orthopedic put her in a cast for 8 weeks, and she fully recovered (after about a year) and is back to running marathons pain-free.

    Lovely post.

    Plantar fasciitis taping

    Hi
For me it all started with plantar fasciitis. The best cardio exercise for someone with plantar fasciitis is swimming and riding a bicycle. I used to run and I got plantar fasciitis I was very frustrated and eventually I started to swim and cycle. Slowly I got better with my PF and I ended up as a triathlete. I have finished my first olympic triathlon race two months ago. It did not all happen in one day - I am talking about 3 years now.
There are many things you can do to treat your PF although I understood that treatment efficiency is very individual. If something works for one it will not necessarily work for the other.
I have found plantar fasciitis taping very useful. Taping will keep your foot from getting injured again and will help you get through your daily routine and exercises.
    Good luck

So true, so true. I wouldn't be more than a random cyclist if it weren't for 4 knee ops sidelining me forever from volleyball and tennis. I wouldn't have discovered how much better cycling is for navel contemplation.
