Yes, they are serious. They've sent a cease and desist letter.
I agree 100% Owlie. IMO It's an example of lawyers doing what they feel they have to do to protect their brand, while simultaneously making the profession look like petty, annoying little brats. They did NOT, however, need to demean the knitting community by saying that the knitting competition insults and denigrates the athletes who have trained for years. It was very badly worded IMO.
The organizers will change the name, and things will move forward. It's just frustrating to see something that encourages people to watch the Olympics and otherwise support the athletes and completely done for fun the target of this kind of lawyering.
