I have a pair of one-size-fits-all wool knee warmers that just about make leg warmers for me, and I'm 5'6" with a 32" inseam. That's an idea for some of you shorter people.

I finally got a pair of leg warmers that fit a short person (sort of ) but I find that when i wear them, it causes my ah, thighs to bulge out in a very peculiar way at the place where the warmers meet the top of my shorts, when they are tucked under. I am a pretty light weight person, but I don't have rock solid thighs. It looks like I have a bubble on the inside of my legs! I don't have this problem in shorts or tights, so I end up wearing tights most of the time and having to take them off if it gets warm. No one probably cares, but I feel weird. Maybe it is just that they just are too big (doubt that).
I guess I better ride even more....
Happens to everyone. That's the beauty of legwarmers.I'm more likely to wear tights if I want my entire leg covered, but wear knee warmers a lot. They're just so practical and easy to tuck in a pocket.

I'm with you, Robyn. Yeah, yeah, I know everyone gets THE BULGE but we don't have to like it! Actually, THE BULGE is just one reason I hate knee and leg warmers. I just don't like constriction in general. It took me a couple of years to figure out that I really did need to buy the smaller bike shorts because they work better...I have historically always purchased things a tad too big.Originally Posted by Robyn Maislin
I'm a huge fan of knickers. No bulge and contrary to shorts, I think they are actually flattering, no matter your size or shape. I never get overheated in them.
I have a friend that is the queen of cycling fashion faux pas: knickers with long soccer socks. That way she can push the socks down if she gets too hot.![]()
Deb, do you have Salsa, Spot or Swobo kneewarmers? Any advice on size? I've been eyeing them for some time but the web sites aren't terribly helpful in determining size. I have some Blackbottom knee warmers, medium, mens sizing I suspect; that fit fairly well. I would like some wool because I suspect they would be warmer under my winter tights. Since I'm short I have plenty of excess material at my knees to let me double up and it really seems to help my achy knees in cold weather.
