    Dear cats,
What's the earliest I can give you dinner and have it still count as dinner, not a super-special late afternoon treat, to be followed by a demand for dinner?

    Dear girl cat,
Thankfully, you don't produce hair balls often. Was the yowling that accompanied the event due to your surprise? Were you proud of the size of the hair ball? Or were you not feeling well and wanting some comforting?

    Hee-hee

Lyra was so pleased today because I woke her up from a lovely late afternoon nap, when she was still in an excellent forgiving mood, by saying those magic four words: "Do you want food?"

    Dear cat,
why do I feel so nervous taking you to the vet for a teeth cleaning? Your the one that has to have it done and all you want from me right now is food. But you can't have any. I hope you forgive me for this.
    Love,
    Mom
I promise tonight big ol plate of wet food!

    Dear Rio De Janeiro:
In our supremacy battles, who wins all the time? The human or the beast? Every time I look directly into your blue/gray marble size eyes for more than 30 seconds you always end up showing your belly to mama. Purrr-ender to me!

PS: Granted, sometimes you don't even pay attention to me

    Dear Zia,

Surprise love bites while you're purring and cuddling with me may be acceptable in your culture, but it's considered pretty rude where I come from.

    Dear cat,

Please stop punching me in the face while Im sleeping with your claws casually hanging out, I will be able to adore and pet you much more efficiently tomorrow if you will just let me sleep. Or is this about the new dog? It's been 3 years, it's time to forgive!!!

My dog was VERY surprised by this video. Her ears were practically on top of her head.

Dear sweet, beloved, ancient black kitten,

I fed you 3 different kinds of food today. I'm even going to feed you one more time before I go to bed. Can tonight be the night that you sleep all the way through, rather than punching me at 3 am because you are hungry? I'm trying, I really am, but it's hard to determine what food you like when it changes on a daily basis....

    All my love, and more,
    your mommy

    Dear Sweet Kitty,

Thank you - again - for bringing me breakfast in bed. I noticed how carefully you carried today's offering so as not to leave any blood on the quilt. But alas, your delicate handling resulted in breakfast scurrying away as soon as you dropped him.

It is now 6 hours later and you keep vigil in my room. And of course, you choose the weekend I was planning on painting the other room, so all the stuff from that room, is in my room, creating no shortage of hiding places. I'm off to work now. I'm guessing you'll still be there when I get home tonight. No mouse parts in the bed, please.

    I still love you,
The woman who does just fine with cereal. And coffee. Don't forget the coffee

    Dear Catkin,

I am very glad you can operate your legs now, unlike when we brought you home and you were completely splayed and could hardly walk, let alone run or even think about jumping. However, it is not necessary to jump on top of everything. Candle sticks are not cat toys, and items on 6' high shelves are there to be out of the way, not to be seen as a challenge for you to overcome.

And please just forget about sneaking out to climb Whitney, Kilamanjaro, or Everest--by the time you got there you would be old enough not to care anymore.

    Dear Chloe and Calypso,
Thank you for returning my sunglass. Leaving them by the front door was a nice touch. I've been wondering where I lost them.

Now if you would please return my Mardi Gras reading glass? I know they're fun and sparkly, but I need them more than you do.

Your cats steal your glasses?!? That's kind of awesome.

    Dear dummycat:

I love it when I walk into a room and the paper bag in the corner is purring.

P.S. Even if I was deaf and couldn't hear you, your tail is sticking out.

    Mine do too.
Awesome in theory maybe, but in practice it is just another way to lose my glasses.
