You're in grad school. You want to travel. You want flexibility. Tie yourself down later - not now.

If you want to cuddle one, volunteer with a rescue!
Yep--the deposit and monthly rent increase by itself is manageable at my current place. Intellectually, I know adopting a cat right now is not the best idea--I'd have to figure out vet care, kitty food (and treats), litter and where to put it. And while I know cats are adaptable, this place is a little small for me and a cat. (Heck, it's a little small for just me!) Never mind the whole having to potentially move across the country with the critter, and there's the whole problem of declawing that seems to be required by every apartment complex ever, finding a place that does take pets (though cats don't present the same problem that dogs do). Plus I'd be a first-time cat owner. I'd rather have the boyfriend around because he at least knows something about taking care of one.

I entertained the idea because I wanted some companionship. It's freaking lonely around here. And weekends suck. I wish the department had the money to keep the cats around as therapy animals. Made yesterday much better.
