Finally, a "weak cold front" in the Yucatan brought the morning temperature for my run to 75F with a nice breeze and cloudy skies. Felt MUCH MUCH better and managed 4 miles. My last few runs had been in the 2.5-3.25 range, so this was a nice change. I love sun, but not when I run!

Adding another comment to the files of "what kind of a winter IS this?"...we had a bunch of rain last night--that should be snow this time of year around here! 45-minute trail run today...the town trails have good drainage so weren't particularly muddy despite last night's downpours. Yesterday I had to force myself out for a 20-minute run--I was tired from a 24-hour shift at work where I didn't get much sleep during the night (had a patient who took a turn for the worse so was up quite a bit dealing with that situation). Slept for about 12 hours last night and am back to my normal self. I'm glad those long shifts don't come around very often (only holidays, which we take turns working)--they can really wipe a person out!

Still in CT. Rainy and crummy and no snow, so we didnt go to VT to ski.
Fortunately, I brought my bathing suit and some running clothes so I've gone to the gym a few days and/or got out for a run.
One thing I had to do was drag DH to Marshall's to look for Patriot's attire. In the land of the Redskins and Ravens, if your football passions are more distant, you're SOL. So I picked up a Pats tech tee, which I wore to the gym this a.m.
Yesterday was swimming, so today I did the treadmill and weights while my sister and her GF swam. The gym is the fitness center for a small local college, and the place was populated with college age jocks - actually the injured ones going over some rehab with college trainers and a coach. Two young basketball players were talking about Christmas and what they got. One young girl was all excited, because she got a Pats jersey she had been wanting. And there I was with mine. I felt like such a jock - and happy that I didn't look for a Giants or a Jets jersey (not that there were any there! Ha!).
So, I feel somewhat okay for all the cookies and stuff I've been munching all week, as I've been able to get active and not be a total load.

Didn't "run" per se, but went to PT/coach today for my tendonitis and it has been great, so far. He videotaped me running next to his car and I have some posture issues (I slouch) but he said I looked very light on my feet and have a lot of potential. Yay! (I hope he's not just humoring me!) We noticed that one of my legs tends to rotate in more than the other and that might be causing the unbalanced pain problems.

It was really cool to see a video of more than just my feet. I look a lot less awkward than I expected. And I have muscles in my legs! I mean, duh, but it was neat to see definition on the video when all I see is chunky thighs in the mirror

I'm very happy with how this is going so far. I'll keep you guys updated.

The instructor for my core and weights class didn't show up this morning at 5:30 , so I headed to the treadmill (dumb, since I have one at home). I was able to do 4 running intervals of 1-2 minutes for a total of 22 minutes without my foot hurting. It's a little tender now, but not like before.
I wonder if the difference is that I was wearing my"aerobics" shoes which have a much more cushioned heel.
We'll see how my foot feels later today.

I wonder if the difference isn't that your aerobics shoes probably don't have high heels. Generally it's only running shoes that do that, where "cross-trainers" and court shoes are much more neutral.

I'm just not ready for minimalist shoes, and the only "regular" shoes I've been able to find that fit have high heels. Having briefly worn the zero-drop shoes, I'm desperately missing not having to smack my heels every step I take. Why do they make shoes like that?????

I'm feeling a bit better and that means I'm going to run long today ... accountability post ...

ETA - done. 15.4, a really nice day for a run.

Actually, my aerobics shoes do have high heels. They are Nikes and have the clear looking heel with some kind of disc looking things inside. I don't remember the model. I bought them about 5 years ago and hardly wore them until this year. My running shoes are quite unsupportive, in that I bought them to avoid seams that hurt my bunion. They are pretty flat on the bottom. They feel thin and it's like I can feel the pavement when I run. I never ever had issues with my other shoes, except for the bunion. But ever since I got these, my knees, shins, and now of course my metatarsals are complaining.
My foot never got worse during the day, and I wore my comfortable shoes to make sure. I'll see how it is after spin tomorrow. I find the standing in spin bugs my foot. I hardly ever stand when I am riding, so that is not an issue.
