First century ride- El Tour de Tucson- 111 miles. I'm really tired now![]()
It went really well except my knee started to hurt at about 75 miles. Hope ibuprofren and rest will do the trick.
Perfect temps but windy on the last 40 miles.

My husband and I had a half failed/half successful short ride....pulled out of the driveway, decided it was colder than we realized (maybe 40 deg at best), pulled back in for more layers. Rolled off a second time, got 3 miles and thought I had frostbite on my fingers. Rolled into my Sisters house to warm them. After that point you'd think we'd roll home but once I got my fingers warmed, we managed to get 12 more miles. I felt awfully slow and heavy today. I was sick most of this past week so I'm sure that combined with the temp was not in my favor. I was happy we got 15 mi after all the effort. We definitely need more cold weather gear!
I'm longing for a 30-40 mile ride and some warm air but I think it might be several months before that happens again. *sigh*...
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Saving for the next one...
It has been a beautiful autumn in the Puget Sound area. I'm getting out on the bike every weekend (the weather has been cooperating). The foliage has been beautiful this year (due to a mild autumn), although we are starting to get the wet and windy weather. It was 38 degrees this morning and sunny, so I got in a 27 mile ride and hope to sneak in another tomorrow. I know the window of opportunity will slam shut soon.

Does riding in a parade count? I got to be part of the group that rode in the parade for our new LBS, then of course had to ride from the end of the parade route back to where all the vehicles were parked. Got to meet several of the guys who typically do the group rides (not quite ready for that yet), but everyone was really cool and it was nice to meet some people as well. I was one of two gals and about 7-8 guys (including my husband).
Here's a link to the group of 3 pictures they (bicycle gallery) posted on their facebook page from the parade. I'm not in any of the pictures. Not sure when they may get some more pictures posted. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...49990902_n.jpg
Did a 25.3 mile ride; just around local roads in Acton, Carlisle, Westford, Chelmsford, and back to Carlisle and Concord. It's very warm, between 58 and 66 during the ride, but with a breeze, so it didn't feel too hot. Had to stop and take my vest and light head cover off after about 5 miles.
We stopped twice; once at Great Brook Farm, to use the bathroom, and the whole lot was full. Lots of mountain bikers on the trails, but even more people coming out to the "country" from the city. Then we rode over to Ferns and I had a very unhealthy lunch of half a blueberry crumble thing. By the time we got back to our street at about 3:15 I had to put my light on, it's already so shadowy and the sun is low.
May try to brave an early AM dark ride tomorrow at 5:30. It's supposed to be 37.

Thanks Dogmama!
Did a 10 mile recovery ride with the DH this afternoon, and though the muscles around my knees are still bothering me some, I think it was a good plan and I feel better.
As for ETT yesterday, I was thrilled that my back, and sometimes wonky hip were non-issues and I felt strong. It wasn't a speedy ride, but well within the silver medallion time that was my goal- even with a blown out tire, stops at about 4 aid stations, and a stop to help someone else with a flat. I had a strong finish and really picked up the pace on the final mile into the finish line.

Only about 8 miles, and I wanted to do a bit more, but my legs started to go numb. 38 degrees here and maybe the last sunny day for the next week, so I really wanted to get one last ride in before the deluge that is coming our way.
Besides, I had to try out my new PI jacket I bought at Gregg's in Seattle yesterday....fits perfectly and is the exact shade of green of my Dolce... sweet!
AZfiddle, congrats on your first Century, awesome! What a feeling, eh?

I rode 20 miles yesterday, but weather didn't cooperate today. Tried riding in the morning and was foiled, tried it again the afternoon and was foiled again!![]()
Yeah, the weather seems to be changing finally...I had hopes of riding today since there wasn't any wind to speak of and the temps were in the very low 50's. It was so damp and wet though that I wimped out and opted for 15 miles on the trainer.
The trainer isn't my preference, but I will take it over doing nothing! It takes quite the mental effort to stay on it though, even watching a movie. I am motivated to keep as much of my fitness as I can though so that does help.
Went out for my first ride on the road since breaking my foot 10 weeks ago. I was with a couple of beginners so was able to go at a very comfortable pace for me to just get used to being out on the road again. 18 miles, but I felt good and like I could have gone a lot further. So nice to get on the road again!
